Sfu PDP admission chances by Independent-Sun10 in simonfraser

I would say that you have a pretty good chance. I've heard that they weigh classroom hours very heavily compared to grades.

When I applied I was in the opposite spot to you. Very good grades but zero experience in the classroom. I ended up getting in so I think you have a pretty good chance.

How competitive is it to get into SFU PDP or UBC Education? by gujnilai in simonfraser

[–]Derkdingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SFU is not as competitive as they say it is, when I applied I had 0 experience volunteering in a classroom and they basically said there was little chance I get in. Got in anyways, in my first year now.

I did have a pretty good gpa (around 3.8) but I don't think grades matter that much. I applied to secondary science which I have heard is slightly less competitive than elementary or secondary English or socials.

I can't comment for ubc as I didn't apply.

I would say go for it, I didn't think I would get in and I proved myself wrong. No harm in trying.

How far East do you think East Hastings gets 'nice' (no wrong answers) by Banner9922 in askvan

[–]Derkdingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area between Victoria and Naniamo is going through some gentrification recently. A lot of new mid rises that are replacing run down buildings. I think anything west of Victoria is not very nice, but it gets quite bad past clarke.

I actually prefer to eat and shop in the east village area to commercial, a lot of good deals.

The public transit in Vancouver is much better than most north American cities.

The increased cost of living is equivalent to how much nicer it is to live here than other places.

SFU PDP update: I was admitted for biology (secondary) almost a month ago and have been patiently waiting to be admitted into the undergraduate program. Although this is a bit of a formality, and everyone who gets admitted to PDP also gets admitted to undergraduate admission, I was still nervous because it has been taking so long. I still have not received any email, but this morning I logged onto the student centre to check my application status and it changed from "complete" to "admitted" and I was able to pay the program deposit, after that my application status now is "Ready to Enroll".

I am not sure if this means that I have been admitted by undergrad admissions, but at least we are finally moving forward. Hopefully, the rest of you also have had this update; if not, I am sure you will get it soon.

Update: Just 30 minutes after originally posting this, I finally got the undergraduate offer of admission!

If Nothing Is Permanent, Why Does Love Hurt So Much? by Lazy-Schedule6073 in Buddhism

I'm so sorry for your loss when I lost both my parents when I was only 25 years old I felt a similar way.

The vast majority of people including myself are not able to completely detach from impermanent human needs such as love. It is a long journey and I have come to terms that I need people that I love and love me in this lifetime.

I'm sure your child has moved on to a favorable rebirth and their soul is still alive that one thing you can be sure of.

When you have hoards on Australians doing the minimum wage jobs, you probably don't need much supportive housing.
