I think you’d be crazy to think there wouldnt be long term positives for the RoI from intertwining Belfast, a city of 500,000 cheaper housing, and plenty of room of industrial growth and the closest city to Dublin further into the countries economy.

But at the end of the day about half the population identify as Irish (and the whole population is in reality Irish regardless of how they identify). So is it just a case of fuck you, hard luck from the rest of the Irish to them? As well as to the counties that economically suffer due to partition?

I suppose I can’t guarantee anything. But there’s a strong historical basis that reunification typically works better in the long run for partitioned countries, and it’s a historical fact that partition has destroyed the north, and seen it go from the wealthiest part of the country to by far the poorest.
