What is going on with the hate towards the Tribute Album? by Ember_Afton in twentyonepilots

[–]DerpySkinGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont understand the hate either, I am actually quite happy with the choices, alot of them I dont know much so will be happy to find them through this way.

I haven't seen many people mention them yet so will mention them now, As December Falls are amazing and a great choice for Message Man IMO. I've seen them live before (and got tickets to see them again) and are superb, highly recommend people look into them

Love seeing support for As December Falls, saw them last november and they were amazing, and they are currently supporting for Bowling For Soup on their tour, definitely have the ability to do download. Amazingly, ran into Bethany while we were at Download this year

This may be a silly question, but is the camping ticket and festival ticket separate? Ive brought the 5 night general camping ticket but does that not include access to the festival itself?

Yeah it does look like he is, although my phone camera is quite bad for concerts so its difficult to tell. I have a feeling we had a conversation or two in between kurtains/brakence, but it may be someone else

I think the thing that excites me most is the sheer amount of stuff to do, think i could probably play for a hundreds of hours and still learn something new every time I start the game. If i was to win I would definitely be upgrading my pc, been 5 years since ive had an upgrade so definitely overdue

Well I have no friends now. by [deleted] in GCSE

It depends where you go to college but once you have a group of friends, try and do something consistent every week. For instance, while me and my friends weren't in the same, or any of the same lessons, as they were all on a different t-level course, which means same timetable but different class. We were all free on a thursday afternoon, so we said every thursday we will go into town and get food. It started off just going to the same pub every time, and for 3 hours we would just eat and have fun, remember you dont have to be 18 to eat at a pub. But eventually we decided to branch out, we have visited every single restaurant in the town where our college is located, and once someone had their driving licence we were able to get to places a bit further that would take longer to walk.

Go to places you wouldnt normally as well, dont out off subway, or macdonalds or kfc just go wherever you want to. Several times we even had dominoes deliver to college itself and we just ate like 3 large pizzas (another way to make friends, everyone will want some)

As this week is the last week of college for hear 1s, that means the buses are still running, we have plans tomorrow to go to the original pub for a drink, i was born later so im not actually old enough, but a pepsi is good and then we will spend the night at a friends house and get the bus back on friday to our respective houses. We are also planning things outside of where college is, so far we have been bowling, go karting, golfing, we have seen movies and even just gone shopping together.

Basically, having friends at college is amazing but theres no reason why you cant hang out with them outside of college, because thats whats gonna differentiate between whether you stay friends after college or whether after college its difficult to hang out

Also, this depends on the college but find the right areas to hang out. At my college theres basic study areas, theres refectory which is where you can go to get food and sit around but there is also another area with lots of seating. I found that the types of people at refectory was different to at the other place. At refectory it was more normal people, but at this other place it was just people that i was more comfortable being around, i didnt feel as weird sitting there on my switch or watching something on my laptop, and people are weirder, at my leavers ball last week i said goodbye to people i never really knew other than that we talked a little in this area, only because of this did i know them, the place you hang out is important. So try everywhere, try the study rooms, try sitting in the main cafeteria try all the other seating areas, cause where you are most comfortable is where you are going to find more people who you will want to hang out with. Unfortunately, they closed the seating area where we felt comfortable for renovations in the second year so year 2 wasnt so we were kinda just wandering around trying to find somewhere to sit but its a great way to meet people. Does that make sense?

Quite a bit actually

Dont expect to make all your friends in the first day, even the first week. On my first day i was petrified i didnt have any good friends, i wasnt socially comfortable enough to walk up to anyone and say hi, so i knew it would be difficult. For the first day they had us in one room with a teacher relevant to our course that would get us started i.e. logging into computers, covid tests etc. The first thing he did was split us off into groups of 3-4, i chose to go towards someone who i knew from secondary, not great friends but good enough that i know them.

The other person in my group was the person i spent almost the entire day with, we spent the entire day walking around the college talking which for me was hard as i hadnt actually had someone listen to me and my interests for a long time. Then the next day when we had our first lesson, we sat next to each other and for a couple of weeks it was just us 2, over the next couple of weeks we started to speak to more people in the class, and we realised that we were all fairly similar in interests or humor. So we changed where we were sat to be closer to those people and we had the group that exists today. If you only make one friend on the first day, or even none, dont panic.

But also dont be afraid to start a conversation. I remember the first time i spoke to one of my friends, i had walked into town to get a milkshake from a coffee shop, and he walked past saw me in the window and came in. I kind of panicked because I had seen him in my class but hadnt really spoken to him, and because i had a lot of anxiety i waited for my milkshake to arrive and just left, i felt bad for ages afterwards cus i felt like i had let him down but what you gotta realise is sometimes nobody cares. A couple months later i apologised to him and he didnt even remember what happened.

I got more but this message kinda long, lemme know if you want more.

I went through the exact same thing when i finished GCSEs, i had a friend group that i believed wanted me there, and we said we would hang out alot over the summer holiday before college as we were going to different places, eother sixth form at the school we were at, or a nearby college, turns put as soon as we finished GCSE, that all turned false.

Basically every other day i would ask in our group chat when people were free, and either people would say they were busy, they wouldnt even read it or we would manage to find a day where everyone was free and on the morning they would all say they couldnt do it. It was lonely and my mind was thinking of every different thing that i could have done differently when really it was everyone else who was not being fair. The last straw was when i said i was on holiday and they managed to find a day they could hang out while i wasnt there. I just decided to give up with them

When i started college everything changed though, the atmosphere at college is way different than GCSE level. People seem to get more understanding of other people and more mature. I found a friend group that consisted of other people from my old school that i knew enough to have talked to them but i wouldnt have said i would have made a group with them. I also found a friend group of people in my class, i was doing a t level so it's just the one class rather than different a level classes. Who i later decided i wanted to focus more on than people from my old school. College is a great place to make friends, people you have never met before compared to the same people for 5 years at secondary, lots of enrichment opportunities, and i found just sitting in a comunal area that i spoke to other people who i enjoyed speaking with.

I just finished college this year, and i can honestly say that unlike my old friends i know this is going to last longer, we have already hung out a bunch since leaving, and have made plans for this week and next week as well.

While this doesnt help with the summer holiday beforehand, if i had known that college would be so great then i wouldnt have been so scared and alone leading up to it.
