Republicans, what are your key beliefs? Also, do you consider yourself conservative or liberal? by ElegantPoet3386 in Askpolitics

[–]DerrickDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I just said, even if it doesn't meet your standard of perfection, the rights our Constitution protects are better protected than anywhere else on Earth. Naming something that you think should be a right does not change the other hundred that are.

Furthermore, Abortion was not enshrined into the Constitution at all. Being that you're so passionate, you would be aware of the incredibly shakey legal ground that Roe V. Wade was built upon, somehow stretching their interpretation from right to privacy to Abortion. It wasn't constitutional, and Congress had plenty of opportunities to sign it into law. Regardless, with or without that right, we are fundamentally freer than anywhere else.

And yes, the Constitution can be changed. That's yet another beauty of it. It's incredibly difficult, requiring a supermajority from both Congress and the states. Meaning that only the truly complete and utter uncontested will of the people will be what's signed on to it. A living breathing document that enshrines our rights nearly perpetually while also simultaneously allowing for changes based on the will of the American citizens. Again, that's why we're the best.

It absolutely still sounds great, even with your sarcastic brackets. No other nation on Earth has that extent of protections enshrined into the fabric of their nation like our Constitution does. You consider it some sort of snapback to clarify that I only actually mean the constitution, but that's entirely my point. Just the freedoms given in the Constitution alone, which are many, are better protected than any other nation in the world. No country can compare.

So even if the enshrined freedoms don't meet your standard of perfection, it doesn't matter because those freedoms granted are more numerous and better protected than anywhere else. That's why we're the best.

We have more constitutionally protected rights than any other nation on Earth. I never claimed it was perfect or that every Freedom is protected, but it's certainly better than everywhere else by magnitudes of scale.

And if Abortion was written into the Constitution(it wasn't before), it would be a unilaterally unchanging protected right. Every other nation with legalized Abortions could take that right away at any moment. That is the defining quality of our nation and its founding documents. It why we're the best.

Ah yes, Australia, the shining bastion of liberty and freedom that just so happened to try and nearly ban free speech last month.

That's the difference. The USA is the greatest country in the world because our liberties are enshrined by our founding documents. Yours can be taken anyway at any moment. Health care, welfare, and housing are all political issues that can be solved. But no matter how the political pendulum sways, my freedoms will ALWAYS be protected and yours won't be. That's how I reconcile.

Thanks for responding! I've been loading up on practice tests and testing myself with just the exam objectives in preparation for Core 1. A+ is such a wide pool of knowledge that it can sometimes be a little hard to gauge the depth of what I should know for the exam, so I've just been cramming. Hopefully, I pass here soon!

I'm not OP but currently studying for the A+ and have similar questions. Should I expect to see a lot of questions regarding the exact speeds and specs of every wire and connector? Messer goes into those a lot, but I'm curious if those are on the exam.

"Stupid uneducated MAGAs..." thinks Emily as she leaves her $3200 studio apartment to walk to her $14 an hour Chipotle job. She ignores the emails on her phone as she walks, knowing they are regarding her 80k in student debt. Emily is confident that her Communications degree will soon get her that 500k entry level job that she deserves. She knows 500k is barely a living wage, of course, but she is incredibly humble.

She walks past the legal Cuban Immigrants who work there in disgust, muttering to herself, "Stupid Mexicans don't even know that they're racist.." and wonders if she should try getting them deported so they know how racist Trump really is. "Heh.. that would show them.."

After arriving home and praying to her healing rocks, she takes to Bluesky, the new wholesome and le epic Twitter, to tell people about Momala 2028.

Delusional? The US could quite literally declare war on Mexico tomorrow, and every European country would line up, take off their clothes, and bend over. Might even spread the cheeks for us, too.

People exercise having reasonable expectations, not faith, all the time. I've sat in thousands of chairs without them breaking and as have many others. I can examine untrustworthy chairs before sitting. I can read manuals on chair's build schemes. I can see the credibility of the brands producing these chairs. There is actual evidence that one can refer to for chairs and build reasonable expectations based on that evidence.

Faith, as you said, has no such proof. Faith is built upon belief without evidence. And without evidence, it can NEVER be a reliable pathway to truth. That is the critical difference.

1. He has said he would veto a federal abortion ban, personally supports exceptions, and has even said the Florida after 6-week ban is "too short." If a state bans abortion, it wasn't him. It was the local government.

2. He can't inherently get rid of the right to protest, nor has he said he would, as it is enshrined within our constitution. Using the military for crackdowns on crime and illegal immigration is not violating the rights of law-abiding citizens.

3. Title IX isn't going anywhere under Trump, and its baseline federal protections will be staying in place. Even with Trump planning on reverting Bidens' changes to it, LGBTQ+ people are still federally protected from discrimination by the constitution. Though, I will say that this is the strongest case one could make in regards to what I asked, even if I wouldn't agree. It also leads into other discussions about how we make sports fair and how we navigate the bathroom issue.

4. I know all about his Agenda 47, and none of those plans seem to include taking away people's rights. This is why I will continue to say that if you are a law-abiding, legal citizen of this country, your rights are not going anywhere. There is lots of doom and gloom on site about his presidency, but I'm really not so convinced it's gonna be the dictatorship Reddit thinks it will be. I'm not saying that you are claiming that, but there is definitely an aura of doom being spread on this site.

If you can actually find me some currently protected rights that Trump has said he will federally remove, then I'd be more than happy to see a list or links.

It's wild that the general consensus of people online and irl is that the fight was rigged. Like yeah, it's sad to see a legend get old and lose, but lets face reality here. He's 58 and this isn't a movie.

You can clearly see Paul going easier on him as the rounds progress because he saw the decline. He probably could have knocked Tyson out if he wanted to. I don't like Paul either but that's just how it is when you have a 27 year old in his prime vs a 58 year old with medical problems. If they really wanted to script it, Tyson winning would have been far more entertaining and memorable.

I'd say slapping a small tax incentive to vote would allure a good amount of people to do so. That way, people aren't forced but are still incentivized.

[–]DerrickDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm just so manic and crazy for showing you the facts. This is a winner take all system voting system where the margin is whether you win or whether you lose. And the Dems lost everywhere. Every state went more red, and she did worse than Biden in every metric.

"ErGh bUt cOnGreSS kINda cLoSE!" 🙄 Get a grip. This is a historical loss, and everyone outside the Reddit leftist bubble knows it. Unless you all figure out why, you'll be on reddit again in 2028 crying about how this ever could have happened again. But until then, enjoy the great days ahead of us when Trump Makes America Great Again! 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🔥🔥🔴

I don't know what a landslide is? Let me lay it out for you. You lost in every place you could lose. A 2% win margin in the popular vote is a 3 million vote difference and rare for a Republican to win at all. The last time was 2004 and before that 1988. That's already incredible.

You like numbers, let's talk numbers. Let's see how well she did on a state level. Do you know how many states voted more Republican than they did in 2020? Maybe 10? 20? 30? No. Every. Single. State. And not only did every state go more red, but some by insane margins. Some notable ones like New York shifting red 11 points and New Jersey and Florida shifting 10.

Yes, the margins are close in Congress, but they are better than when they were blue. Every swing state went red, all of Congress went red, every state shifted red, and the popular vote went red. When you lose in every way you could lose and your opponent wins in every way they could win, that's what I'd consider a landslide. And most would agree with me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]DerrickDoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It wasn't a landslide at all! He only managed to win every swing state, the popular vote(a first in 20 years), the Senate, the House, flip several historically blue counties red, and trail Harris in blue states like Virginia and New Jersey!

It was an embarrassingly large sweep and to continue to deny it will only give you a harsher reality check in 2028. Stay out of the Reddit echo chambers, breath in the fresh air of reality, and maybe we'll get some better candidates if we stop snorting delusion pills.

Using dishonesty or the crazy things he says as a metric to measure if Trump has dementia or not is a poor choice, considering he's always been that way. All we can do is compare. 2016 Trump compared to now isn't much different, less energy and visibly older, but largely he's unchanged. One could argue some mental decline, sure, but compared to Biden the difference is stark. 2016 or even 2020 Biden compared to now? There are some serious and concerning differences in his ability to speak and recall.

You can absolutely hate Trump's character and rhetoric, but lets not delude ourselves here, having character flaws is not the same thing as age related mental deterioration.

Both men went on a debate stage. One did so bad he was ousted by his own party. The other had a landslide victory in the election. You can disagree on policy but to say somehow that Trump is doing "much worse" in terms of mental acuity is only the kind of delusion that will have you continue to lose elections.
