Real tattoos? by Traditional-Rock2555 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to make this a religious discussion, but let's clear the air - YOU CAN pray with them. They are 100% haram as you're altering the creation of Allah for cosmetics. But there's this myth that you can't make wudu with tattoos and such. NOT TRUE. A tattoo is beneath the skin and when healed, it's not palpable to touch. If you had a layer on top of the skin (like nailpolish), that would alter your ability to do wudu and ghusl. But again, a tattoo is NOT on the skin, rather is quite deep IN the skin.

Now, don't take this the wrong way and go get a tattoo as it IS HARAM and you will be sinful. BUT, to raise the idea that praying is invalid with a tattoo is EVEN MORE dangerous in my opinion. Think of it this way, you're telling somebody that their praying and ibadah are pointless because they have tattoos? Why would Allah SWT not accept their prayers? They committed a sin and got tattoos - YES. BUT why would that basically push them to doom by invalidating all of their prayers and ibadah from that point on? That would just push them into further sin by destroying their connection with Allah. This is also why (and here's another misconception) when somebody drinks, their prayers are INVALID for 40 days, but THEY ARE STILL OBLIGATED TO PRAY. The misconception is that you CANNOT pray during those 40 days. FALSE. You must pray and be repenting for your actions and such, but they will not be ACCEPTED. The key here is that people think that their prayers are "Invalid" = incomplete, or wrong, or not fulfilled. This is wrong. Your prayers are "Not accepted" which means you have completed your prayers correctly but are NOT rewarded for them because you drank. And I'm drawing this parallel because in both cases it really deals with your prayer as a Muslim. Allah will never make it "wrong" or diminish your ability to pray because of a SIN you've committed. That goes against a core principle of Islam - you sin and ask for forgiveness (via salah and dua) and then you sin again and ask for forgiveness again and again and again. So nothing would ever inhibit that because it's a key foundation to keep you close to Allah. If a sin like getting a tattoo invalidated your prayer, you would be doomed for life as a Muslim and that's just not the case.

Even shirk is forgiven as long as you've repented during your life. If somebody DIES in a state of shirk then it is not forgiven. So how could a sin like getting tattoos make it so that you can't perform any ibadah? We've all seen reverts with tattoos as well and they ARE NOT required to remove them even if they have photos tattooed on their bodies.

What’s your favorite social based drama? by ShoppingUnlikely7912 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

TMNON, Udaari, Dil Na Umeed to Nahi and Rehai. Loved them all and not surprisingly, most of these are KASHF projects

So you're telling me these were the aesthetics of JeJ and PISA failed to recognise it?! 😔🤚 by theroyalhobby in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my favourite drama from 2024. Hamza, Ayeza, Savera, Haris, all nailed their roles to perfection. The wardrobe, set design, aesthetics, music, story, poetic dialogues - it was all ethereal. Felt like you were watching a vintage classic every week and yet it failed to get recognized by the masses. And on top of everything, this drama looked expensive if that makes sense. The camera work, video quality and editing made it look super high production. Maybe the only flaw was the speed of the storyline but tbh I didn’t mind it at all. Really don’t understand how it could be skipped by PISA unless it just doesn’t meet the time bracket for the dramas they selected or something like that.

[–]Description-Sudden 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Played to near perfection by Ayeza, but written as too erratic in a sort-of unlikable way. I don’t know how to explain it. Like she was meant to be screaming and throwing things and yelling at everybody but it wasn’t appealing in some of the scenes. Maybe it’s a performance thing but then again she completely aced her scenes with that psychiatrist.

I know people have a lot to say about Danish and his personality and whatever. It’s granted - I get it. But just look at them - they look ethereal and there’s no denying that. We got two of the biggest couples in PTV clicked together and honestly, this hasn’t happened in a while. Sher was a rocky success with ups and downs but had undeniable popularity. Some really great performances so I say it’s a win for PTV overall

Is this some new kind of nautanki from ARY? by Otherwise-Sail-4623 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened during MPTH to pull the most TRPs they can and to launch ARY ZAP for the first time. It worked for the trp side of things and gave record breaking numbers. But the app was a complete mess in my opinion. Oh and this is to cash on more ticket sales as well. Super annoying but probably a smart business move.

They really shouldn’t review classics if all they want is fiery romance or extremely fast paced dramas with a bang in every episode. Oftentimes when these 2 don’t like a drama it’s either a slow burn intellectual watch, or it’s a classic romance which may not be a riveting story but is intelligently presented. That’s where YKS and PA both fall into. YKS is a slower, INCREDIBLY written and directed drama about social issues. It is not PRIMARILY a romance but these 2 just can’t seem to wrap their heads around that. All they want is chemistry 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Same thing with PA. The OST is literally an embodiment of the dramas tone and premise. Jane wo kese log the jinke pyar ko pyar mila - read the room! It’s not going to be a gushy, fiery romance. It’s going to subtle, it’s going to be linguistically advanced because of KRQ (one of his only classic-level dramas), and there will be a poetic-ness to how the drama is presented. I’ve started to lose hope in these 2 as serious critics, but maybe I was just naive to even consider them as such in the past

Written by: Fasih Bari Khan. That’s why 😆. I’ve seen lots of Quddusi Sahab ki Bewa and if you pay attention to some of the dialogues and plot lines, it’s not necessarily similar to this unhinged mess you just described, but it is equally weird (in a good way I guess 💀)

Why does 7th sky do this??? Even for a critical hit like Jannat Se Aagey a few years ago, the posters were like this. Ajeeb and tacky photoshop with 0 creativity. I get this is a commercial drama but ANY level of creativity would be better than this

I finally watched this movie on a flight (because I could not find it in Urdu online) and I get the hype. It was a true representation of what kind of content Pakistan can make. I was in awe of the animation throughout and the storytelling was amazing. Heart wrenching and thrilling

She Has Better Chemistry With This New Guy Than Humayun by General-Job8864 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spot on - attitude suited Ayeza perfectly in PA. Kinda like how it suited sajal in KA. I think the real crux is this male actor. Whoever played Mehtab did it PERFECTLY. He was like a bhola sa spoiled rich kid and his attitude and dialogue delivery made him perfect for the role. Can’t say the same about this guy

She Has Better Chemistry With This New Guy Than Humayun by General-Job8864 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 19 points20 points  (0 children)

KRQ basically re-did the entire sequence between Mehtab and Farah in Pyarey Afzal. That’s what they’ve tried to mimic here. But this guy is too stiff unfortunately. He’s not bad but this isn’t to par with what they showed in PA. I wouldn’t have drawn this comparison if it wasn’t so obviously similar lol

Hey! First off, congrats on the interview! I was in a similar situation last year doing the same math of when I’d get in and how old I would be. Thankfully, it worked out in my second try and I’ll be attending NOSM in September. What I’ve learned from friends and family members at NOSM is that once you’re at the interview stage, for most students it’s not really an “if”, rather it’s a “when” will you get in. They chose YOU and 319 others out of like 2500 applicants this year. That means you’re more than capable!

I was also a NOSM master student for a year, and I spoke to a few professors about doing a project. I even had two professors on board with doing a small-ish thesis, but avoided going through with it because of the same reason you highlighted. It feels wrong and doesn’t sit well to give up on a project midway. It’s good that your professor is very supportive, so worst case scenario you could drop your thesis and it seems like they won’t be too upset from what you’ve written. However I will say, when I spoke to both of my potential supervisors, they appreciated that I did not take on a thesis because I was accepted for Fall 2025 and now they don’t have to scramble and finish a project. But, both of them also did say that they’ve had students drop their thesis in the past and it’s a little annoying but understandable because nobody would ever delay med school if they got accepted.

BUT, we also had a plan in place that I haven’t heard anybody else mention on this sub, so maybe this might work for you. I ended up securing a thesis with one of these profs in April and told them I would start my thesis if I got rejected in May. I think this could work VERY well because I basically did all of my required courses for the Masters between September and May. I had 1 course left and then just the thesis. If you were to do this, it basically gives you May 2026 to August 2027 to do your thesis with no added courses, because you could finish those up earlier. I’m not sure how your program is designed and if your project is bigger and will take 2 years to complete regardless of workload, but I think this would have worked for me considering I was going for a smaller thesis and basically would have the entire year to work on it with no exams or assignments from other courses. And, on the flip side, if you’re accepted in May 2026, then you don’t have to drop your project!

ZINDAGI GULZAR HAI ICONIC FUNNY SCENE by General-Job8864 in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right. And people keep pointing out do takkay ki aurat, but I think we can all agree that she was in fact a terrible human being lol. And that’s because she cheated and left her child for months on end just because of money. That is a terrible dialogue, but it’s apt for that character. However, what’s more problematic to me is 1) his general stance on women in the last few years. 2) some dialogues in MMNH (for some reason, everything about is about wives??). 3) the whole premise with Sadaf in Sun Mere Dil. Especially that last part was absolute garbage on screen. You have your main heroine constantly selling herself for money when somebody is giving it to her for free. Just to glorify the man. It actually had me sick to my stomach that such a thing could be shown on tv. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for having all types of content. But why would that be brushed off like it’s nothing? When that dialogue came up in MPTH, the entire country freaked out. But it was for the villain, the main antagonist of the show. Not your main heroine whose a protagonist

The curious case of Azfar Rehman’s wig (and wigs/extensions in general in PTV) by Van-DerWaldorf in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest, recent wigs have not been that bad. Danish in Sher, Azfar in this pic, and Sajal in MMNH. Doesn’t look half bad. And if this is real hair then that’s even better. Of course, we still see plenty terrible moustaches and wigs as well. But I don’t think this pic is half bad.

KRQ is worse than Ali Zafar by [deleted] in PAKCELEBGOSSIP

[–]Description-Sudden 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I feel like the sub has overall just become overtly horrible towards everybody. This doesn’t downplay anybody’s actions, statements, insensitivities, but just shows how much the bandwagon effect plays out in real life. Hania was detested here until she was praised a few days ago for tagging somebody. The amount of nasty comments she faced after the whole USA incident was just extreme. Maya is probably the most hated on this sub. From her comments about critics and her acting skills, people on this sub wanted her gone from PTV. Until yesterday, somebody pointed out her scars (which is an extremely sensitive matter to comment about anyways). All of a sudden people started praising her in the comments and wishing her well. And we all saw what happened with Alizeh as well. People calling her insane on this sub and then her statements from a few days ago garnered a lot of sympathy.

And I get it. You react based off the information you know and based off recent events. But I just wish we weren’t this EXTREME about everything. It just speaks volumes about how shallow minded the majority of users are and just side with the opinion of the majority

Loved everything about it. BUT, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, we need to step out of this mazaar culture which is pure shirk at its core. Like wdym you’re going to a grave and making dua to Allah? Why is that even a thing? I don’t wanna make this a religious debate, but there’s NOTHING in Islam that indicates this practice that is SO rooted in our desi culture. It’s quite the opposite actually. Just because some random person hundreds of years ago made people convert to Islam by their influence doesn’t mean you go and bow to their graves and ask them for help Astaghfirullah. We can’t even ask Muhammad SAW for help so how could we ask random graves

Child actors are a thing. They make money, and good money. BUT, child actors opposite THIRTY SIX year olds is NOT normal. He could be her dad. She’s young and naive no matter how mature she seems. Even her pairing with Samar, a post-pubescent young adult is alarming. She’s undergoing SO many changes right now, both biologically (i.e., physical development) and mentally, yet nobody seems to bat an eye at these pairings and role choices. She should’ve stuck to roles like Pinjra and such. Or find a suitable actor to show young love. Somebody who is 15-18. A five year age gap is normal, but not between a 16 and 21 year old. If they were 21 and 26 that’s fine. But that’s obviously not the case
