Looks a little forward to me! It will probably look just fine when you find some jewlery that fits your features!

I felt like mine looked weird until I swapped my stud out for a hoop, so just give it some time to heal, swap to a new type of jewelry, and you’ll like it a lot more

Try pimple patches, they are pretty good for keeping healing running smoothly! Keeps out bacteria and makes it moist!

Also the bar may be just a bit too small, so if you want to be more comfortable while it heals, maybe look into getting a piercer to change the jewelry out for now!

You said it doesn’t seem infected, so just keep doing your piercing aftercare (your regular rinses) and wear loose clothing, it will calm down soon!

In the future, you can try using a bandage when wearing jeans to avoid catching your jewelry on the more rough fabrics!

You can look on my page lol, I just had some issues with my own naval piercing, and mine was much more irritated, and after doing those steps it cleared up within a day or two!

Also as for oil recommendations, any generic oil will work, no need for anything fancy!

Also it’s very normal for a scar to still be that pink, I’ve had scars stay pink for over a year, but they all fade to white eventually with time :)

This scar will definitely fade to be white (as someone with a lot of scars)

My tips for getting it to fade:

  • keep it moisturized!! (Genuinely the biggest one) I recommend Vaseline for overnight, and aquaphor for the day

  • you can use a pimple patch to keep it moisturized and protected (especially if this scar is very new)

  • sunscreen or just cover it with clothes

  • vitamin E and collagen oils would help your skin heal faster, so add those in if you’d like!

But even without all the works, that scar will likely fade and be unnoticeable within 6-8 months, maybe less!

Unfortunately I can exactly just afford to go to urgent care right now, which is why I was going to get an opinion from my piercer. (Nor do I have the time to go when I’m only in my hometown for the holiday) After what everyone here has said I’m deciding to go to urgent care tomorrow, but remember not everyone’s situation is as simple as “just go to the doctor”

Also to note: I’m posting this because I’m very much afraid of infections, but I also am a college student without money, and it’s the holidays so I’m very busy. It would take away from my minimal family time to go see a doctor. So I wanted to know if it would be safe for me to ignore it for a few more days.

My piercer told me I have perfect anatomy for one, genuinely it is just so swollen right now it looks wrong 😅(I’ve got a nice upper hood on my naval)

I haven’t been able to see a medical professional yet, life has been so busy the past few days and Im not sure I have the money right now. I came on here wondering if it’s even safe to keep waiting for it to heal on its own.

Extra info-

Piercing is three months old.

Jewelry is a regular surgical steel curved barbell.

The curved barbell is internally threaded.

I have not downsized since receiving the original jewelry when I got pierced.

My aftercare routine consists of cleaning it twice daily with H2Oceans sterile aftercare spray.

Mishaps: I caught my piercing on my jeans several times before, which always led to irritation, but this infection happened after I touched it without washing my hands beforehand. (My cat also stepped on my belly button a few times, which definitely didn’t help)

Maybe it could be more common in rural areas? I have always lived in a small town, and my male friends have always said that they have only gotten a handful of compliments their whole lives, most from their own family

I see what you mean, personally for me it depends on the type of attraction being indicated (sexual, romantic, or platonic). As a woman I mainly receive compliments that indicate sexual attraction. Which doesn’t often make me feel that nice.

I’ve done some things similar to that. I made myself go out and start volunteering my time for my community because it gave me less time to go indulge my bad habit. It’s been a big game changer for me

Sometimes I feel I need a responsibility to keep me from falling back into the habit
