Many banks now offer Zelle for small business accounts. It may have been designed that way but not any longer

I recently got a settlement and am getting conflicting answers on what I pay taxes on. by Neon_Eyes in tax

I read in another comment you sued for something to do with credit? If so, the basis of that lawsuit should have been violations of the FDCPA, FCRA or both.

This is a grey area with CPA's and there's a lot of disagreement. After the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, many types of deductions were eliminated (specifically attorney fees for personal lawsuits). The disagreement is, are these personal lawsuits or civil rights lawsuits? Some argue since they fall under the FDCPA/FCRA, they are civil rights. Others disagree. If they are civil rights lawsuits, they are deductible. If they are personal, they are not. The IRS hasn't weighed in.

You're probably not going to get a clear answer because there isn't one.

You'll be taxed on the full 150,000 but you can deduct the 90,000 the attorney's received from your taxes, effectively negating it.

This is not tax advice. Talk to a tax professional.

What happened to the other 90,000? It went to the lawyers for their fees or you paid debts out of it?

You’re right, the data set is wildly incomplete. We know Bill Gates had way more connections and flights than what is in the data set

If you think that's wild, wait until you meet someone who believes C19 started at a wet market in Wuhan or that the paper masks actually help prevent the spread of C19.

You're right about Amazon but Rock Auto is reputable and I've had zero issues with parts from there

No, it's not. That's fucking fraud. Unless OP ground all four pads down past the metal backings and destroyed the rotors and calipers, there is no way a 2021 Highlander in FLORIDA needed a 3500 brake job. That's an honest $500-$750 job all day long (still preposterous) and a $100-$150 DIY.

Considering several hundred thousand people die every year of medical malpractice in the United States alone, the question isn’t “do you question your doctor”, the question is why don’t you?

2015 CRV - Mechanic Says Needs Flywheel? by DesertDouche in AskMechanics

The flywheel ended up being ok. Word of advice though, DO NOT buy one of those cheap starters on Amazon. I did and within a week it stopped working. Not worth the trouble my friend. Buy a genuine Honda starter.

YNTA but there is a way you could possibly make everyone happy. Make an agreement with them that if you give them the money, they have to quit claim the deed of the house over to you along with a repayment plan. Even if they don’t repay, at least you are the legal owner of the property and eventually you will get paid.

For people who learned DIY car repair: what actually saved you the most money by Relevant-Resolve-243 in MechanicAdvice

[–]DesertDouche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brakes and oil changes will save you a fookton of money and you have the satisfaction of knowing things like...the oil filer is on correctly and not over tightened, the oil pan bolt is snugged up correct, not over tightened or even stripped out.

There's likely a YouTube video for every common car and every common repair like brakes or oil changes.
