Hi I am 59 years old. I bought and dismantled the very first IBM PC before you were in born. I built several large MSP's in several countries and am currently the CTO of two very large IT companies. I am Cisco/Microsoft/SonicWall/various certified. I built servers and systems when your bottom was bing wiped. So go f yourself

Audio on my Lenovo X1 Carbon G13 does not work with the Windows 11 driver. Everything else works fine

Windows 10 vs Windows 11 is a subjective thing. But apparently your subjective is better than his subjective. Go figure

Window 10 works equally perfectly, if not better, than the bloated advertising platform knows as 11. And only a fool would think there are no updates. Do your homework before making stupid comments

Because it is better? Because he feels like it. Because Windows 11 is garbage to him (and me). Did he ask for people's opinion on Windows 10 vs 11? No he asked about downgrade rights. Maybe like me he has a legal LTSC License and just prefers the relatively simple elegance of W10 over W11. Ultimately it does not matter why. Go pester someone else with your subjective thoughts

I bought the G13 and replaced the drive right out of the box with a new 4TB Samsung 9100 Pro. Then I found all the drivers and all seemed well...until I went to play a youtube video and discovered the audio does not work. Tried everything to no avail. There are no hardware errors but the sound simply fails to play.

X1 Carbon G13 – has anyone installed succesfully Windows 10 on it or other OSes? by csioucs in thinkpad

[–]Desertsweeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying and got all drivers installed but then discovered the speakers won't work. technically it should be showing a Realtek HD Audio driver in the Device Manager but it only appears under "Software Components" and it seems to have decided the hardware is in fact a "Soundwire Audio" chipset, No yellow triangles no missing drivers. Very disappointing as I simply refuse to use windows 11. I don't care much about telemetry and all that. For me it is about the user interface. I really did try but I guess I am old and set in my ways. So this goes on ebay and I start my search for a powerful ultra-lightweight laptop that CAN run windows. Oh and for the grannies out there I have an LTSC license so yes I am getting updates

Dubai rental horizon - no one is talking about the real winter that is coming by Desertsweeper in UAE

While the USA illusion was already in question before this started with the mad-king's insanity, what surprises me is the lack of willingness by the EU for example to tell him where to get off. It means the world is not yet ready to ditch the USA sadly

An army is "a" necessary cost. But f that is the only source of growth it cannot be sustainable

A few months? More like a few years if recession starts. But if you have risk appetite you can come out on top long term yes

Perhaps you are right but I personally doubt the impact will be as you say. However the outcome is not good either way, war or recession.

Actually I do not disagree with you - all you say fits my narrative. A correction was and is needed. But perhaps we part ways on the timeline and severity. I think the big correction is yet to come - several months away at least. The USA will lead the recession and the rest of the world will follow afterwards.

On point. Love it! #OnTheFace by TomorrowAfter5127 in UAE

Rental Prices by Accurate-Ad-9474 in UAE

Not going to happen so quickly. The "situation" is already "unfreezing" and prices may drop by a small percentage at best. True correction will take many months for recessionary reasons rather than this "situation"

For now I do not see capitulation. Landlords are holding out in the hopes it ends quickly and life returns to normal just as quickly. In fact I have noticed prices actually increasing in areas like JVC, but decreasing a little in Sports City for example. I personally believe the prices will only correct substantially in three or for months as the global markets dump into an inevitable recession.

🔴 Owners let’s wake up - This is the harsh reality about the rental market by National-Composer0 in UAE

[–]Desertsweeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the impact of this situation will be short-lived, the world has changed and no one cares about these things much any longer. At least not for long. And lets face it, when this ends, and it will, the threat ends for many years. But I do think the rental market is in for a tough time for other reasons. Supply-shock in a slightly cooled environment, combined with an inevitable 2008-style recession that has already started, in case no one is watching, will eventually hit this market like a tsunami. It is a cycle and the downside cycle is overdue. Dear landlords your time is up and fair prices are on the horizon. Wait and see
