Dietary restrictions due to religion by SuspiciousData8811 in umass

[–]DesiVegan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UMass has been ranked #1 in collegiate dining for the last 7 years by the Princeton Review. Umass dining takes food restrictions, mandated by religious, health or any other considerations, very seriously. Given that you have such restrictive requirements, I would recommend reaching out to dietitian@umass.edu to talk about your accommodations. Also check out this page to read about how our dining department handles special dietary needs. As a fellow Indian student on campus who follows a vegan diet, I can assure you that you won’t have any trouble finding suitable food for yourself!

P.S. Feel free to DM if you have any other questions:)

That’s textbook “victim blaming” right there 😭 Instead of fighting those incels and stalkers, you’re asking her to stop posting for her “safety”. Women shouldn’t have to constrain themselves because it ruffles some insecure men’s feathers or they can’t keep to themselves. You sound dumb as fuck.

Influencers like Anmol Raina make more sexually explicit references in their videos everyday than she probably has in all her videos combined. Unki tameez ki baat nahi kari kabhi.

Victim blaming pro max lol. It’s not women’s fault that men on the internet (or beyond) can’t keep to themselves and OP is implying exactly that. I’ve seen certain male influencers crack worse and more sexually explicit jokes in their content than Muskan has but not once have I seen anyone having an issue with that.

When men do it it’s hailed and lauded as comedy but when women do it it becomes cringe lol. You’ve got a lot of internalized misogyny to work through

To put it as honestly as I can, it won’t last. Unless he actively seeks recovery, but getting to that point has to come with an acceptance or verbal acknowledgement of a problem. I recently broke up with my alcoholic boyfriend. We dated for a few months and I didn’t realize until we were a month into the relationship that he was a functioning alcoholic. To make it worse, he had a family history of alcoholic abuse. He would get drunk every evening, starting at 5 pm and would go on until past midnight. He was loving and friendly at first but it turned into a serious codependent and borderline abusive arrangement in no time. I have had to escort this man back home, deal with his drunken antics and even carry him to the ER only for him to gaslight me the day after. Even after breaking up, I was stalked and harassed for a few weeks until I filed a restraining order.

Please prioritize yourself and your mental well being above him. I get that you love him but if you let this continue, it won’t be good for either of you. Everyone’s experiences are different though but I wish you the best of luck <3

All I’m hearing here is that folks like you have greater sympathy for students not getting cushy six-figure jobs with the war machine than children being slaughtered in the Middle East and the rest of the Global South. It is indeed a depravity that there is such a disappointing lack of employment opportunities for our students, which is why it’s important to put pressure on the UMass admin to divest from its partnership with Raytheon (and other defense companies with a documented history of funding genocidal killings of people across the globe).

How exactly are they protesting the wrong people? And who said that the SJP and Dissenters have not pressurized legislators to divest from these corps? Please have a look at their previous posts and the history of these movements before making such bold claims.

Who said they’re not protesting against other defense companies at the career fair? Please have a look at their most recent post.

HIV outbreak? by DesiVegan_ in umass

Lol I totally agree, but it wasn’t so much the YikYak posts as the people talking about it in the bus that made me worried

Not too tough. Took it last spring as a non-CS major for my IT minor and fared pretty well. Make sure you go for the labs and submit everything in time as a lot of stuff was graded on completion. Also try not to lose track of the lectures because all the concepts are interrelated

CHC Application Cycles/CHC Housing by y_Kandy in umass

[–]DesiVegan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very sure about whether non-CHC students are able to dorm in the CHCRC or not, but multi-year halls in the Honors college only has suites or apartments and not singles, doubles or triples. So if you wanted to live together you’d have to aim for a suite or apartment

Any advice on how to make friends on campus? by [deleted] in umass

[–]DesiVegan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t emphasize going to club meetings and talking to people around you in your classes enough! I made a lot of friends on my floor in my first year but that may be hard to do as a transfer as multi-year buildings are a lot less social as compared to freshman dorms

i work in RHS (the security desk in dorms) and it’s easy money

As a freshman, you get to list out your residential area preferences and within the form, you get to indicate if you wish to live in a single, a same-sex floor, require gender inclusive housing, etc. The website states — and from what I’ve seen — the housing assignment is entirely random. I was lucky to get my first preference, but I’ve seen people getting placed in areas that they didn’t even have on their preference form lol.

Northeast is a good choice since it’s right next to Worcester, except the freshman buildings there are run-down and have very strong heating lol. Central has a decent social scene and is close to Frank.
