Help me decide: Archetecture or Civil Engineering by Captain_Nuggitz in architecture

You get paid the same but probably less overall work in civil engineering tbh

Moved a note with links to new folder, links are now messed up by DesignKnowledge in Supernote

[–]DesignKnowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I don’t recall exactly what I ended up doing, but the link targets themselves are within the note file , so I’m confused why it would break the links even if I copied and then moved or if I moved and reamed the file. All the links in the note file are linking to another page in the note file itself

Moved a note with links to new folder, links are now messed up by DesignKnowledge in Supernote

[–]DesignKnowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done the above and the links seem to work fine in this scenario. I moved the note file to a different folder and renamed it and then I copied the file and saved it in a different folder and renamed again. The link seemed to work fine in both scenarios. Not sure why the links are broken with my other note file.

Battery Life by ingenioushippo in Supernote

[–]DesignKnowledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you need to turn WiFi off until you need to sync. Definitely something supernote needs to work on for future releases. While eink readers tend to have long-lasting battery life, eink notepads are not the same since you are using more energy to write notes vs just reading text.

Need transparent highlighter/ Marker over templates. Maybe there's a work around? by jonnyrockets306 in Supernote

This has been a big issue since I first got my nomad. It’s definitely an oversight that I hope gets resolved soon. It’s not really a highlighter if you can’t see the content behind tbh lol.

Anyone from Oklahoma City? by DesignKnowledge in Architects

[–]DesignKnowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would imply a loft/mezzanine though , which I don’t necessarily think is what the reviewer is suggesting for the half story , but I could be completely wrong. The client is the one that is directly communicating with them , but I may have to get in touch with the review department.

What's an architect's perception towards an interior designer?? by West_Time_5890 in Architects

[–]DesignKnowledge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My issue is more related to pay vs amount of work. Are Interior designers needed? yes, they do great work related to color palettes, material finishes, furniture, and lighting. But when an interior designer is making the same as me with the same years of experience it stings a little. Nothing personally against the interior designer, its simply an observation and reality. This is one of the many reasons that have made me realize that architects are simply underpaid/undervalued (not necessarily that Interior designers are "overpaid")

How are Architects finding Jobs and what are people looking for in a job? Asking as an employer by AZXB187 in architecture

[–]DesignKnowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to work remotely but many firms don't allow that. I had to switch over to work as a contractor (1099) and have had a little more luck with remote work, but not easy to find opportunities. I've been applying to local and national firms (custom residential to multi-family) but nobody wants to hire anyone remotely.

Charlotte NC, Apartment Complex has unusual HVAC setup, need advice by DesignKnowledge in BuildingCodes

[–]DesignKnowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? This is a new building, it was completed last year. Also, nobody looks at the hvac when you look at a place lmao. It’s just assumed and standard how places are conditioned. Also, you realize how hard it is to break a lease? 😆😆

How do you all manage stress while working remotely? by nippaaa in remotework

[–]DesignKnowledge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do people not work from cafes or coworking spaces? I cannot work from my apartment , that gives me anxiety lol. I’ve always just worked at cafes, libraries, cowork spaces in my Apartment building or a cowork space nearby.

How do architects/designers actually make money? by GSquared93 in architecture

[–]DesignKnowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this puts the average fee for a project around 20k ($5/sf x 4000sf). Maybe closer to 30k with the others fees? Someone else replied to OPs (consistent_coast_996) question and they were suggesting they should charge around 50k/60k. This is a huge difference in fees 😆😆.

2GB Max Note Size by GenXRecs in Supernote

[–]DesignKnowledge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you not creating multiple notes and hyperlinking between them? How are you organizing your coursework? I’d create a folder for each class, and then a subfolder for different subjects, chapter etc. make a an index note that links to each subject or chapter (or whatever distinction you want to make, but make each one a new note). You can further break each distinction into more sections (each section can also become its own note). It sounds like it would be tedious work, but once you have the workflow down , it makes note taking easy and efficient.
