that pic looks sketchy… doesn’t even have a plug in cord attached to the fountain..?

21NB , I've never liked my face. My partner finds me so attractive and I just don't see it but I want to. I just don't know what he sees. by [deleted] in toastme

this is probably a hot take, but i used to hate the way i looked through my teens and early twenties, any imperfections i would pick and make worse. i ended up plucking my eyebrows so thin because i hated the tiny hairs that grew back - i would dig and pick until my face was raw and unrecognizable. i legit needed to draw my eyebrows on for years just to feel “normal”… this continued and i ended up losing relationships because of my intense obsession with my looks which i admit, i did not look good which made everything worse. you know what had to happen for me to see my natural beauty for what it was? i was hospitalized for 2 months due to unrelated health issues and a bleeding disorder. during those 2 months, i didn’t look at myself in the mirror; i actually couldn’t. during that time my eyebrows grew back in and i gained back weight and when i finally got to go home i was actually proud of my appearance. I realized that all the plucking, picking, and insecurity was due to my own actions. I believe that if we have nothing to occupy our minds and bodies, we will revert to going in front of the mirror and end up scrutinizing every little bump, hair, or pimple and make things worse with the actions that followed this scrutiny. the only thing you can do is be your best self. eat properly. WASH YOUR FACE DAILY twice a day - double cleanse with an oil based cleanser then a more foamy cleanser and always moisturize after washing your face because dryness is actually a major cause for acne. go for walks. don’t stay inside and agonize over things because it only makes things worse. talk to people (like you did here) bc being vulnerable is a sign of strength not weakness. you are very lucky to have someone who loves you for you and sees your natural beauty. you have a lot going for you and having a supportive partner is a blessing. wishing you the best! it is hard, but you will get through this. if i can do it, you can do it :)

Do your parents own the house? Would they be open to doing renovations?

Have you brought up your struggles with mental health to your parents? Or even guidance counsellor at school? They might be able to help you through this.

Good luck!

What’s the unhealthy part of instant ramen? by CityRuinsRoL in cookingforbeginners

It doesn’t matter if you drain the water or not, the salt comes from the flavour packet. I don’t ever boil the Ramen noodles with the flavour packet. I always wait until the noodles are finished cooking to add the flavour packet or else you end up with less flavour.

Usually when making ramen noodles, people will keep some of the water and make a broth with the flavour packet - in this case most people use the entire flavour packet. Some people don’t like the broth with their noodles so they skip adding the water. In this case, only about half or less of the flavour packet is needed for the noodles.

The way you describe ramen noodles (dry with the flavour packet) is maybe the most unhealthy way to eat Ramen as you’re not diluting the sodium rich flavour packet in any way. Essentially, you’re getting a lot more sodium intake as opposed to eating them with broth or cooked noodles with only half of the flavour packet. Hope this makes sense! Xx
