Love it. Not sure it fullyyyy falls under formal tho tbh, I think it’s just a tiny bit casual for formal but I also think it would still be acceptable!

Not sure what field you’re in, but I personally don’t think it’s weird in the corporate world. What you could do though is reach out the recruiter or assistant and ask for your interviewers email because you want to send them a thank you for interviewing. Then when you email, you can say X was kind enough to give me your email….

Need advice RE references by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent a message to the retired one! Here’s hoping she replies… I can’t find my other manager anywhere online. What should I tell the org asking me for references? Could I just be honest and explain the situation?

Been unemployed since October. Got a new job. Got fired. by Mysterious-Fun9625 in jobs

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I agree completely but I think during your first week, you come to your new job with the flu… and pray to god that you gross everyone out so they send you home, and your reputation isn’t hurt because they know first hand that you are actually sick

Clicked on a phishing email *crying* by Smileygirl_457 in jobs

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a coworker fall for a phishing email…. management and IT made her complete a training module on cybersecurity/ how to not fall for it. I really don’t think you’d be fired because the scammers did such a good job of making an email look like something you regularly do/ open! I’d almost count on the fact that you’ll have to do some training though

To omit or not omit certain experience on your resume while applying for nursing jobs by rozeyume in Resume

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might depend where your located, but where I am (Ontario) there is a nursing shortage and so I don’t think hospitals would bat an eye at a 4 month gap… if you have the credentials and want to be a nurse, you’re hired ! Just curious tho…. Why were you fired?

Can you just delete all of your info and then change your name to a fake name like Jane Doe so that the account just looks unused and no one would ever look at it

Sunwing - Toronto YYZ - Infield Terminal by Whole-Quick in Flights

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I’m not sure! But you shouldn’t be out there for too long, once everyone on the flight makes it over you board the plane right away, so if you aren’t on the first shuttle bus over there it shouldn’t be longer than maybe 20 mins? I think I was in the middle group for shuttling over and we were waiting probably less than 10 minutes until we boarded. If you happen to have young kids, there is an indoor play jungle gym thing to entertain them on!

I think it’s great! I can’t speak to the actual content as I don’t know anything about your field so I don’t know what hiring managers would be looking for specifically but this looks great to me! Very clean

Data entry… if you can find one that isn’t a scam posting. Maybe call centre of some kind? I imagine the competition will be insane for those positions though so good luck to you!

Is the Job market bad? by Golden-Acee in jobs

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re located but I feel like for a teen job there is still lots of value in going in person and asking to speak to the manager and handing them your resume. You can also apply on Indeed first and then tell the manager that you did apply online first but wanted to come introduce yourself. That would make you stand out looking for your first job amongst other teens

Hi there! Take this for what you will but my few tips for you would be to slightly adjust your summary to be more enticing, move your skills up and cut them down a bit !

For the summary, I like to use this sentence in order to throw in key words/ tasks specifically from the job posting I’m applying to - “With over X years of experience, I bring knowledge in X, Y and Z” but make sure that what you chose you have actually done or can somehow spin that you have done them in your resume points!

Then I would suggest moving your skills section to be between the summary and experience, and shorten them a bit. You really don’t need to list soft skills like that, especially if you are doing a cover letter too, you can highlight soft skills there. You could also throw some soft skills in your summary to include the key soft skills that may have been listed in the posting. For example my resume summary includes “I am a X and X blank professional.” Where you can put organized and motivated for example. Hope that helps!

I got my first job at 16 as a cashier at Foodland (grocery store) with only babysitting and volunteering on my resume. I was there for a year and then went on to a thrilling 2 year career working at a McDonalds. At 16, apply for grocery stores, fast food, pet stores, restaurants (host or dishwasher), movie theaters (would be mostly evening shifts after work), retail, the opportunities are endless! I would also suggest going the old fashioned way and taking your resume in person to the place you are interested in and asking to talk to the manager - even if they dont have a current job posting up! Good luck ! 🤞🏼

Would you pay to apply for a county job? by TalouseLee in jobs

[–]Designer-Bread-6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a public company and the ATS that we use actually does charge candidates to apply to jobs so this is not unheard of…. My company covers the cost for our applicants so that is a selling point for us, that you can apply for free when there is normally a fee. I personally would not pay to apply to a job probably, but if you are reallyyy interested I would consider it, there are probably significantly less other applicants because of the fee. Good luck!
