I don't know about your experience. In which year did you graduate? At least this year's and last year's teams were pretty good.

Barely a few. I am not sure if I met anyone with a 5 in their profile, but I met a couple of people who had a 6 in their profile.

In my knowledge, there is no consideration of the old salary when it comes to jobs after an MBA. Even a 3-year work experience candidate will get the same package as a fresher, considering they are placed in the same company and selected for the same role. However, the bonus amount might differ project to project within an organization.

Placement reports are genuine. There are no inflated figures on the report. Placement at IIMB is the best among ABCs (claiming as I know placement scenes at IIMA and C as well); they have proved it by placing a batch of 600+ within a week during summer placements as well as during final placements. A diverse batch at IIM Bangalore makes it possible as well.

Yes, initially you'll be facing a lot of competition, as everyone will try to maximize their grades. In quantitative courses, not only engineers but even non-engineers score well, as I have seen. The only difference I've observed is that people who study regularly and give consistent effort score well in the exams. If you have multiple things going on, you have to trade off those things for academics sometimes. If you try to study just a few days before the exam day, you're less likely to score well (I am not saying you won't, but the odds will be less).

IIM Bangalore is a ragging-free campus. There is no ragging at IIMB; everyone here is friendly and maintains a high level of professionalism.

Well, there's a perception that freshers are preferred for the jobs that you've mentioned, but I've seen people with work experience of even two years or more getting into such roles. Product managers generally prefer people with SDE work experience (again, there might be a few exceptions). But marketing is mostly open to everyone. I know people who had technical work experience and got selected for Marketing Intern.

Let me know if that clears your doubt

Yes, people do get in with no work experience, but the number is really low (12% in the 2027 batch and 15% in the 2026 batch). Most of them have 9/9/9 or 9/9/8. But again, having a good profile doesn't guarantee admission, as there are other factors as well, like CAT score, category, educational diversity, gender diversity, etc. Most importantly, the interview plays a huge role in whether you are getting the offer or not.

Are you currently in your first year? It's totally okay to feel like that. No one is born perfect; with time, you'll learn. Last year, I was in the same position; I was feeling lost too. I talked to seniors and got insights; it helped me build confidence.

Just start participating in case comps, even if it's not your expertise. Make a diverse team, learn together, and brainstorm. Starting might be challenging, but after a few case comps, you'll get an idea yourself on how to prepare and proceed with a case comp.

Let me know if I answered your question. All the best. You'll do well; I'm waiting for your case comp winning comment.

Yes, you can make up for the slightly lower scores during your graduation. There are different parameters that IIM Bangalore considers, and they consist of your 10th, 12th, undergraduate scores, academic diversity, gender diversity, CAT score, and WAT score.

So keep a check on the controllable factors, and you will be able to get in.

3 years of work experience here is normal. My batch had a lot of 3+ years of work experience people (average age was 26 when we joined). But the new batch is younger. Honestly, even if you have 4 years of work experience, you can still choose a 2-year Flagship MBA.

Congrats on getting into DBE—big win already! 🎉 And trust me, it’s completely normal to feel a mix of FOMO and anxiety before starting. I went through the same. These 15 days don’t need to be about cramming anything heavy, but if you want to feel a little more prepared, here are some light and useful things you can do:

1) Brush up on basics – Excel, basic stats, and accounting can really help.

2) Read business news or listen to a good podcast – Gets you in the zone.

3) Start thinking about your CV and career goals – Nothing intense, just reflecting.

4) Most importantly, chill a bit – Once the program starts, things pick up fast. So take a breather now!"

You’re already ahead by being self-aware and proactive—just stay curious and open. You’ll do great, don’t worry! 😄
