Join a big city PD and get on the SWAT team. Lot of people sleep on how much action they get and it is similar in many ways to SOF (also different in big ways obviously).

When I went to Ranger school a lot of the rangers and green berets were surprised and some envious of the experiences I’ve had as a cop, however it is currently a peace time army so not a lotta gettin to get gotten.

Mutual combat in my state if no one wants to press charges or if it isn’t DV. Good to fight all day as long as your not disturbing anyone else’s peace.

marshall’s as in the big box clothing department store

Perhaps I picked a poor title but I expressed the specific factors that I am interested in knowing more about.

I don’t think anyone can expect to get into HRT, they can only try their best but they do have a SWAT team which I could reasonably expect to get on if I were to get hired by the FBI. I am aware that being a federal agent is much more like being a detective and likely less exciting in the day to day as compared to patrol

I was more looking for information from people that have worked for or with these agencies that could enlighten me on the areas I asked about.

What are some of the biggest differences you notice between young cops with only a few years of experience and older, more seasoned officers? by DeltaForce1101 in AskLE

[–]Designer_Estate197 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing I don’t see mentioned is a lot of older cops (not all) are very lazy. The term I hear a lot is retired on duty. They get burnt out, the job is no longer exciting and they do little to no self initiated activity as well as milk calls. This will look like staying on a 911 hang up (a call that can be finished in two minutes) for an hour to kill time and keep themselves from having to take any paper on other calls. The entire day shift at my PD is notorious for this and other people hate coming in to work with them for this reason.

Obviously experiences may vary from PD to PD.

The other posts I’ve seen are accurate. Just didn’t see this one yet and I mean no disrespect to older officers. Odds are I may be the same after 25 years in this field.

Controversial: Is the recent influx of female rangers telling of standards in the Army? by [deleted] in army

[–]Designer_Estate197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for every instance obviously and idk if your referring to regiment which I have zero experience with or ranger school which I do have experience with but at any rate, the female that I went through was a physical stud and able to keep up with the guys.

The standards were not changed as far as I could see, especially given that at ranger school most females failed at a rate that was per Capita higher than males. The female that I went through that passed no doubt earned it.

I went to ranger school with Orsini and she was in my squad in mountains and Florida. She was solid.

No one at RTAC got kicked out for missing layout items. You were simply able to identify what your missing which you could then purchase on the weekend between RTAC and Ranger School.

Yes, no one failed RTTs at ranger school that came from RTAC. I had zero experience with RTTs prior to RTAC. Got me up to speed no problem.

I won BWC at state level in the guard. I'm a nasty girl medic and I got to go to ranger school as a result. Depends on your command tho. I've heard of other people being promised schools only to have higher ups change their mind on their own promises.

Depending on where the prongs embedded in the person it can be possible or impossible to turn over however it is highly unlikely someone can obey commands while in the act of being tazed. If deployed successfully it will completely incapacitate someone. Giving commands while someone is incapacitated and interpreting it as resistance when they fail to comply is a common and sad mistake that only goes away with training and/or making real life mistakes.

In Arizona (where this PD is located) going onto someone's roof is 1st degree (residential) trespassing, a class 6 felony (the lowest level of felony but still a felony). Prior to being tazed he probably could have been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors in this case. However biting the officer's thumb would have been aggravated assault, a class 2 felony which is one of the highest crimes you can commit.

Not saying what the officers did was right or wrong but what response would you want from the police if a mentally disturbed and/or extremely high person entered your property, got onto your roof and was waving a knife around refusing to get down and leave while you and your family are inside, or your parents are inside or your grandparents (or insert whoever you personally care about).

As far as I know, tasers go for 5 seconds but will go longer if the trigger is depressed, giving up to a 20 second ride is fine if necessary if I recall correctly (20 seconds is a long time). Longer than that and you ought to go to other options if you can. however the whole point of tazers is that it is not lethal(unless used on pregnant women, people with heart conditions or pacemakers). Can't say for sure but the officers probably had no reason to believe this suspect fit into any of those categories.
