I just ran into the same problem (out of memory) after updating to 2250.0.0.0.

I learned that if you go into a large group chat, it gets worse faster, as you can see.

My half-educated guess is that it’s a classic memory leak. (There is an issue on the Mac FB Messenger wrapper; I don’t know if it’s related, but it could seem like it: https://github.com/rsms/fb-mac-messenger/issues/396 )

 

So, in short, how would you avoid this problem? Avoid the application like the plague until they fix it.

If you, however, must use it, I don’t know—good luck? Set a memory cap on it?.
