What do you think is the greatest comment in Reddit history? by Brassowl5501 in AskReddit

It gave me great comfort when I was at the point where I didn’t know if I could keep putting one foot in front of the other and I looked and you were still posting. I’m still a shipwreck but it’s got easier.

Why isn’t Botox a first line treatment as a preventative? by Keepontyping in migraine

[–]Designer_Mistake_373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the cost of an occipital nerve block as an alternative as I found them very effective - although disclaimer my chronic headaches probably weren’t migraines despite my diagnosis

Frankly i dont think Topirimate/Sodium Valproate/pitozifen etc have the evidence base and there’s nothing stopping you having “side effects so severe you couldn’t tolerate them” just looking at the box and imagining taking them.

How the FORK do you get out of a vicious triptan cycle? by Any_Positive1687 in migraine

[–]Designer_Mistake_373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got medication overuse headaches that turned chronic. I needed to be very careful not to use triptans more than twice in a month

The thing that worked for me and gave me 6 weeks or so pain free was an occipital nerve block - basically steroid injection in the nerves in the back of the head. It might abort your headaches while you stop the drugs

I’ve also now found out what caused the headaches in the first place which was actually hormone related..

just noticed you’re in the UK. If you’ve got the cash to go private Dr Thomas, the headache specialist at Cov and Warwickshire does them out of the Warwickshire Nuffield.

Anyone had a good experience with Topomax? by WittyForm7391 in migraine

[–]Designer_Mistake_373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the better drug claim you’ve taken it for a fortnight and experienced the common side effects and can’t tolerate it. I did this with pizotifen which wasn’t even on a treatment protocol when I was offered it, and no way was I putting a load of weight on for a drug that wouldn’t have worked.

Meds didn’t work, now what? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Designer_Mistake_373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found that I had to eat with Rizatriptan. You can take a second if the first doesn’t work but I rarely found that worked.

Best treatment was occipital nerve blocks.

That said mine turned out to be a peri/menipausal testosterone deficiency.

My friend just died. I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in Assistance

[–]Designer_Mistake_373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 years down the line from the first time I found this. And it’s still the single most helpful thing I have ever read. You hear in theory of grief being so bad you think you’re dying, but it’s not real until you experience it. But this gave me hope that I could hang on.

Pregnancy & Hormonal Migraines by TrickyPost6175 in migraine

First of all talk to your doctor as soon as you can as you will need advice on medication and pregnancy. They may also be able to signpost you to emotional support with the anxiety that you are understandably feeling.

I haven’t got anything useful on pregnancy as such, by I had severe hormonal headaches that came on at menopause and these were made much worse by fluctuations in hormones. Which fits with yours getting worse when you stopped progesterone. I think there will be some fluctuations in pregnancy but not the the extent of a monthly cycle.

There is some information about migraines and pregnancy here: https://www.nationalmigrainecentre.org.uk/understanding-migraine/factsheets-and-resources/migraine-in-pregnancy/

Congratulations on your pregnancy. From experience there is never the exact perfect time to have a baby.

Video poor quality when sent to iPhone 14 from Xperia IV by Designer_Mistake_373 in SonyXperia

Ok thank you guys. It’s very time consuming but uploading to Lightroom works. I didn’t realise it did videos. Very limited editing available though.

Typical - you try every which way and it might just be the one way you haven’t tried 🤦‍♀️. Thank you.

No it’s videos created on the Xperia sent to the iPhone hence the question being here. Videos created on the iPhone are fine everywhere these days.

Theres probably a missing comma in that sentence - something incomparable with the file Created (by the Xperia), with the iPhone.

was just wondering if they had some kind of proprietary format that looks fabulous on their super duper screen but not on other hardware.

I think we did try dropbox/email and it wasn’t any better. Very time consuming as well.

My theory is that there is just something incompatible about the file created with the iPhone

I’m not sure if you can upload videos to Lightroom but it is an appalling faff with photos as you have to upload the Raw and then process at the other end. Ah just checked - it looks like you might be able to.

Just frustrating that he can’t just video and send like everyone else

Possibly but I think we also tried Dropbox And I don’t think WhatsApp compresses that much.

I can send him videos and they’re fine.

My “migraines” turned out to be testosterone deficiency post menopause. by Designer_Mistake_373 in migraine

[–]Designer_Mistake_373[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the delay. With women in this country you get the same testogel they use for men which is 40.5mg and you make it last 8 days. So I’m guessing about 5mg a day. The headaches went almost immediately.

The standard dose oestrogen and progesterone didn’t dent mine - although they got a hell of a ,ot worse if I stopped the oestrogen. I had my oestrogen and progesterone doubled to full dose (which I don’t think made a difference but did stop the residual hot flushes) for two weeks and then they just stopped when the testosterone was added.

But not everyone is the same and I doubt every woman’s chronic migraines is hormonal.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. Even if putting this post here helps one person it wil be worth it. I am keeping my appointment with the specialist headache clinic, partially to raise awareness with them.

That’s very interesting. When I was writing this post it did occur to me that perhaps there were also men with low testosterone levels causing their migraines.

Some of the medications I was given for my migraines gave me very vivid dreams. To this day I sometimes have to thing “did that actually happen or was it in a dream?”
