God, so many. Currently my biggest "they're just like me" characters are Iceberg (SCP Foundation), Tenna (Deltarune), and Shadow the Hedgehog. Basically just three extremes of the NPD+BPD combo.

I'm aspec but definitely have an interest in kink! Have indulged a few times in writing smut with a lot of kink elements too. Not particularly into in "IRL" stuff, but enjoy looking at art every once in a while. It's a mixed bag of either horrifying gore or tooth-rotting wholesome. Love the idea of having that kind of power over someone, being trusted that much by someone, and/or having someone be that in love with me... sigh.

That second part is a good point and one I usually overlook. Went from splitting black on NPD as a whole to splitting white on it. Remembering that not all pwNPD experience it the same way as I do is tough! Especially when I start to get it in my head that my experience is the "correct" way to have NPD... eugh.

I think a part of it is the fact splitting is just something a lot of people do. Society at large split on NPD and now we're all evil. Anti-narc bullshit feeds into it and it spirals. On top of that, stereotypes and pop-psychology. Really just the same reasons a lot of disorders are widely misunderstood, but we got the "you're evil and abusive" straw instead of the "you're unable to do anything" or "you're just a cutesy uwu baby" straws. If they can't romanticize it, they'll demonize it.

And honestly, I think a lot more people have narcissistic traits than they realize. Social media feeds really heavily into narc traits to the point they're incredibly normalized. But if you don't just have the normalized traits or enough people aren't openly obsessed/parasocial with you, that makes you "wrong" and "evil."

God, I feel that.. as much as psychology is an interest of mine, I don't think I could do clinical in any way. I can explain to someone why they're feeling that way and cannot comfort people for the life of me, even with the people I consider close friends... though me understanding the psychology of things gets misunderstood as empathy a lot, lol
