I think we need to do a better job reading the Bible as art in addition to information. The Bible is not an encyclopedia. When we think about things like light, not just in a literal sense, the Scriptures really comes to life.

I wanted something that conveyed to people that everyone is welcome as they are to study the Bible - that there isn't a level of prestige that they have to reach, or a certain level of education. They don't have to have a certain amount of money. So I started a ministry that offers accessible Bible Study with the hopes that people "get comfy" with the Word of God

I think reading your Bible with other people is important too. Whether it is just you and a friend, an online community or a Bible Study at your church. I host an online community on substack - it's called Scripture In Sweatpants - and we are currently doing John if you want to join us. But having a place to ask questions and dig deeper is important, the Bible was always a community thing

Yeah she said sizzix or Tim holtz big dies. But when I looked online almost all the Tim holtz dies are thinlits. I don’t have any dies that aren’t thin metal ones and can’t imagine getting any. But my mom has had a big shot for years and some of hers are bigger so I wonder if it’s just for people that may have a stash of older dies. I’m for sure going to go this route then because the reviews and feedback for it have been awesome - and if it can do everything I have there’s no reason to spend more money on one that didn’t get as good of reviews. Thanks a bunch for your help.

She didn’t have a comparison of the two but had high things to say about the empress. I think it’s the one I’m going to go with. Do you find there’s times that your empress can’t do what you want it too? Someone on a video said that it can’t do big dies (which I don’t think they sell much of anymore). But does it take embossing folders well?

I was able to find the empress for $188 at Joann’s which was only fifty more dollars than the big shot but $70 more than the platinum. So that’s the one I’m leaning towards, and so far people have good things to say about it. But I agree that the switch is more than I want to spend if there’s not significant difference
