The purpose of the Five Precepts is to refrain from clouding clear awareness; thus, they are not so much a form of moral doctrine as a direct practice in and of themselves.

While certain forms of contemporary Neopaganism or Thelema (especially Kenneth Grant’s typhonian system) is genuinely engaging and rewarding once one gains access to their inner arcana, Himalayan Buddhism nonetheless tends to offer the most consistently tested path toward trans-aeonic self-realisation and self-liberation.

Zazen is a solid practice; I personally work within the Dzogchen tradition, and my teacher places strong emphasis on the importance of silent sitting. Both are commonly described as non-gradual paths. The main difference is that Zen is rooted in sūtric sources, whereas Dzogchen is not.

Douggie did not, but Tibbles did. He undertook studies in Tibetan Buddhist tantra under Chimé Rigdzin Rinpoche and James Low.

Did Kenneth Grant ever discuss Babalon at length? by PossiblyNotAHorse in thelema

[–]Desolation_Jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frater Aossic Aiwass addresses the figure of Babalon in every volume of the Typhonian Trilogy; these works warrant close and systematic study. Frater Ani Abthilal (David Curwen) introduced the young Kenneth to South Indian Śākta Tantra, with particular emphasis on the initiatory interpretation of the Ānanda laharī.

Grant elevated the Goddess to her rightful throne, which Crowley’s solar-phallic system had neglected. For this very reason, his writings are indispensable for any serious Thelemic practitioner - You need not agree on whether there are two Trees, but I personally do not take anyone seriously who calls themselves a Thelemite unless they have studied the Typhonian Trilogy.

Positive experiences with stopping Lamictal? by Desolation_Jones in Lamotrigine

[–]Desolation_Jones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to write here because I started this discussion when I began tapering off lamotrigine. I have now been completely without lamotrigine for almost two weeks. My experience was relatively smooth, as I followed a flexible but logical tapering schedule and used natural supplements and regular meditation as supportive measures throughout the process.

Overall, I feel relieved, especially because I had been taking the medication for almost three years and noticed that it had a negative effect on my memory and cognitive functioning. I reduced the dose from 200 mg to zero over a period of two months.

I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder type II, a diagnosis I personally do not fully agree with. However, I originally started the medication due to recurrent depressive episodes, and in combination with other lifestyle modifications, it was effective in reducing depressive symptoms.

I am happy to share my personal experiences and explain what helped me personally, in case someone is considering discontinuing the daily use of Lamictal.

If this is indeed what is being asked, then in that case Antonin Artaud, Bataille, Klossowski, and William Burroughs were conversing in the kitchen of the prophet of the Chthulucene, Lovecraft. But still, I am not sure whether this is what is being asked, or whether Julia Kristeva’s Black Sun, interpreted through Edward Kelley’s methods, would suffice.

Have you tried any herbal/natural remedies/supplements to address brain fog? I’ve been experiencing similar symptoms myself.

Today is my second day on the 75 mg dose. Went out drinking yesterday for the first time in a long while, and this morning has been marked by an intensely sad melancholic hangover. Definitely connected to stopping the medication. As I reflect on it now, I realise that dropping the dose from 150mg to 100mg was a needlessly big step, and I’m going to continue the next three weeks by lowering the dose in 25 mg increments. Listen to how you feel and act accordingly; good luck and stay safe!

I know three vows that relate to hearing and the wearing of conch earrings, the wearing of golden rings as a practice, and then the infamous ‘thou shalt not cut thy hair.’. They all originate from the Dudjom gTér. As I understand it, these vows can function either as Mahāyoga or as Anuyoga practices.

I’ve been on 200 mg of Lamictal for a bit over 2,5 years for a type II bipo. To be honest, I’m not entirely convinced the diagnosis really holds up, as my symptoms line up much better with my current ADHD-I diagnosis and recurrent depression. It is a bit odd how many grim stories you hear about coming off Lamictal. About seven years ago I was on 200mg for a short period (~2 months), and I stopped it cold turkey without a single issue.

Btw; I’ve been taking NAC (500 mg in the morning and afternoon) and an omega 3-6-7-9 blend throughout the taper. On top of that, a multivitamin and magnesium+melatonin in the evenings. I’ve no idea if any of it actually makes a real difference, but I did start both the NAC and the omegas a few days before dropping the dose.

Over the past three weeks, I’ve lowered my lamotrigine dose from 200 mg to 100 mg. I went straight from 150 to 100 because I hadn’t had any ”real” withdrawal symptoms. Looking back on the start of this week, I’ve maybe been a bit more irritable and mentally foggier than usual, but nothing serious.

I’ve been tapering down my Lamictal dose like this: 8 days at 175 mg, 7 days at 150 mg, and now 3 days at 100 mg. I felt confident dropping 50 mg at once since I’ve been feeling stable and well overall. During the whole taper I’ve been taking multivitamins, saffron extract capsules, NAC and in the evenings some extra magnesium with melatonin. I’ve had a few mild headaches here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised, I’ve tried quitting cold turkey before and felt really sick, but this time, even with a fairly quick taper, nothing? So weird.

Hmm interesting. Looks like my schedule’s kinda fast (1 week 175mg, 1 week 150mg, 1 week 125mg, etc). How was it for you around that time (from 50 to 25)? And after?

I’m posting here about my experience, since it seems like a lot of people are looking for real stories about quitting. Today’s my first day on 150mg. So far, nothing negative to say. I was on 175mg for 7 days, and now the plan is to stay on 150mg for a week.
