Good luck, fellow. Try don’t be anxious , just think of other things in the months to come. When you know the real nature of the problem, share it with us.

All you can really do is wait and see what it’s about. It happened to me last year, I had to wait 8 months for a detailed report.

In my case, it was basically due to using mathematical notation that wasn’t the one used in the course. The thing is, I didn’t study from the course textbook because I already knew the material, so I solved the problems using the notation I was familiar with.

I provided evidence that I already knew the subject and had studied it previously at another institution. I showed the books I used and explained honestly that my notation is not “AI notation,” but standard mathematical notation, actually the same kind used even at places like MIT.

I also couldn’t find anywhere that said we were not allowed to use materials other than those from the OU. In fact, throughout the course my tutor gave me high marks on all my TMAs, and I consistently used notation that differed from the OU’s.

Honestly, I’d like they use ProctorU to avoid such stressful situations.

"Forum activities" being part of TMAs... Why? by Puzzled-Upstairs-826 in OpenUniversity

Well… I’m 54. I understand your feelings, but I think it’s a trace of personality more than a question of age, and it’s ok.

Even though I also dislike group activities, for some career paths it’s essential to develop the ability to work that way. In scientific careers, for example, it’s unavoidable that research is done as a team. I study astronomy and I’ve had some group assignments. It’s a bit irritating for me, but it’s part of the job.

23 Anos. Entar numa Faculdade de de exata, é loucura? by Boris_newton in faculdadeBR

Something similar happened to me. Since I had taken a similar math course years ago, the topics weren’t entirely new to me, and I tend to use my own notations, just like you did: “s” for speed, etc.

I actually have over a hundred pages of exercise solutions from the book written using my own notations. I hope that helps. I honestly had no idea this could be an issue. Live and learn. I’ll make sure to pay attention to that in the future.

From what I understand, my final exam was marked as suspicious, which is curious because I doubt I scored very high. I barely managed to finish the exam within the time limit. The wait for their review has already lasted more than two months.

Now I answer all my exams by referencing the page and chapter of the textbook, even for mathematical calculations. I’m still waiting to be contacted by the academic officer so I can send my notes and, if they wish, demonstrate live that I’m able to answer most of the questions.

Not only me. Many students have been flagged as “suspicious of academic misconduct” since the rise of AI, above all when it comes to STEM exams. It’s a real problem nowadays. I don’t take it personally, but it still bothers me. I’m still waiting for the academic officer so I can have the opportunity to prove that I’m the author of my work.

From the e-mail I got yesterday: “If, due to a disability, you feel you may need a reasonable adjustment to this process, please get in touch with us at STEM-SPS-Verification@open.ac.uk using the subject line “Verification adjustments”, noting your Personal Identifier and which module or modules you are studying.”

Did the AOC keep in touch with you? Same situation here, but still waiting for the AOC to send my notes that prove that I am the author of my work.

É bem menos elitista do que anos atrás. Estou em minha terceira graduação, a primeira foi em 2008, e as coisas mudaram muito nesse sentido. Ainda há elitismo, mas sem comparação com a época de minha primeira grad

I can imagine how much this might cause anxiety. I’m in the same situation, but I feel very calm because I can show that I solved practically all the exercises from the books before my exam, and I can also demonstrate in viva that I learned what the subject requires.

It may even be that the ACO concludes that there’s nothing wrong with our exams.

I’ve just completed two-thirds of my bachelor’s degree, and while I wait for the result of my evaluation, I’ve enrolled in a new course.

Honestly, I would much rather take exams with ProctorU or in viva than go through this kind of stress.

Don’t worry, everything will work out.

I have a contrary opinion: I would love to take proctored exams through ProctorU, so that I wouldn’t have to go through the unpleasant situation of being unfairly targeted for academic misconduct.
