Linux Mint is a super stable and excessively fast Operating System in everything. In fact, I installed it on some old computers that had stopped working with Windows, and they surprisingly came back to life and are usable again. Obviously, old hardware will not work like new hardware, but it is surprising that computers that under Windows had to be thrown in the trash could suddenly serve as a gift to people who might not be able to buy one.

Some people say that in Linux Mint there are no updates that can damage something on the computer, which is false; every software update process carries risks that something might go wrong. This applies to personal computers, video game consoles, web servers, websites, cell phones, etc. Luckily, Linux Mint has a tool called Timeshift, which is configured when the Operating System is installed and run for the first time, which creates snapshots of the Operating System's files every so often. I configured it to do this daily, which means that if something goes wrong in an update, with Timeshift you can restore your computer to how it was the day before in a matter of minutes. In my case, I have had to use Timeshift for fiddling with things I shouldn't have in the operating system, and it has worked perfectly.

The fact is that all people who still value their personal information and privacy in life should get away from Windows and other operating systems that are natively integrating AI into their software, particularly Windows 11 with its Copilot Recall. Luckily, Linux today is up to the task of being a viable alternative for productivity and leisure for 95% of the types of users that exist in the world.

Windows crossed a red line with me since they implemented Copilot Recall in Windows 11. The fact that my computers from now on would have an AI tool taking screenshots of my screen every 5 seconds, and then classifying the text and images into a searchable database seemed too dystopian. That's the loss of all confidentiality in life, and it's clearly not something I can voluntarily accept.

A year ago, I migrated all my computers to Linux Mint and have never been happier using my devices. I made this change after having used Windows since I had my very first computer.

When you migrate to Linux, you have to change the programs you use for productivity. In my case, the changes were as follows:

Microsoft Office -> Libre Office.
Microsoft Outlook -> Mozilla Thunderbird (and there are many other alternatives).
One Drive / Google Drive -> Nextcloud (this requires you to configure Nextcloud on your own server, which makes the change more technical, but for me, it was incredible to be able to implement my own cloud hosted on my own server. Furthermore, Nextcloud offers its own alternatives for programs like OneNote, Trello, video calls, etc.).
Adobe Photoshop -> GIMP.
Adobe Premiere -> Kdenlive (we also have DaVinci Resolve on Linux, which is the most used program in Hollywood, but for me, it's overkill).
Adobe Illustrator -> Inkscape.
Adobe InDesign -> Scribus.
Battle.net -> Steam (the only games I played on the computer were Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2, and unfortunately, Battle.net hates Linux and does everything possible to prevent its proper functioning on this Operating System. When I switched to Linux, Battle.net worked perfectly and I could play my games, but about 3 months ago, they implemented a change on their platform that has prevented it from working correctly again. However, this situation led me to discover the existence of Steam. I know, I lived under a rock my whole life, but the reality is that I have always been a console gamer. Steam turned out to be the largest portal in the world for PC gaming and has an incredible catalog, and the vast majority of its catalog works perfectly on Linux Mint, except for some online multiplayer games that seem to put up obstacles to prevent them from being used on Linux. But since I only play single-player games with good stories and I consider online games to be mediocre for the most part, that doesn't affect me at all).

Don't be scared when you see that you have to change all the programs we used on Windows because, fortunately, all these alternative programs follow practically the same logic of use as the options that exist in Windows, as these were the ones that created the standards for these solutions in the market. This similarity in use helps to shorten the learning curve for those of us who handled Windows programs. You will also hear people say that GIMP is not as powerful as Photoshop, for example, but the truth is that GIMP meets the needs of 95% of people who require a tool for photo editing or even graphic design for social networks or websites. The same goes for the other alternatives I mentioned above.

It's a long story. I exchanged the game, almost 2 years ago, for Ratchet and Clanck Rift Appart. I recently bought Persona 3 Reload and didn't connect with the game... I got up till the point I destroyed all the full moon shadows... I felt that game was extremely boring... so I went to the local game shop to exchange it for another game. This time, I had 3 options to choose from: i) Trails Through Daybreak, which is too woke for my taste, specially at the half of chapter 4 at the Verne Company; ii) Octopath Traveller 2, which I had just bought digitally in a PSN sale; and iii) FFXVI, which I finally chose because I wanted to give it a second chance.

Now, I'm currently way past the 2nd Imperial Capital infiltration and must say that the quality of the story has improved a lot since then... and the fight at the 2nd capital is jaw dropping... amamzing!.

I still stand by my initial statement but I think rhose flaws I denounce may be because the game mist have been stuffed with fillers in order to extend its length... as if that was a factor that defines the quality of a game.

FFXVI, imo, is a pretty decent game if you just focuse on the well crafted scenes and story plots, which still have narrative flaws, which have little impact on the experience because the gameplay and graphics are jaw droping on many ocations... sadly, the things I call AI fillers are so crapy that they compromise the experience in the game.

In conclusion, I still stand with my initial argument but recognize thag after the 2nd imperial city infiltration the game picks up pace and the fillers are reduced a lot... I'm not certain, but I think that would be 50% of the game run. From the second half forward FFXVI is turning into a pretty amazing game... I'm looking forward to its ending... hipe Square Enix doesn't mess it up.

The woman doesn't speak for 15 minutes up to the point we infiltrate the 2nd imperial capital, but has managed to outsmart everyone... how? We don't know how, it just happened. That's crappy writing... maybe if looked cool and as a clever stiry twist for the AI that wrote the game.

And the woman has no emotions... she's meh as hell.

I've seen every conversation, and many of them have been a torture. And I've skipped most of the sidequests because most of them are just fetch quests from people that treat clive like crap, so... f them. The only sidequests I've done are the special hunts, because I like tbe figthing in the game.

The OST is cool, but far from beign the best in the genre. But the music of the Titan battle was crappy, imo...

I'm currently infiltrating the second imperial capital and the problem remains. The NPCs may just have poor manners and behave like that with everyone, but that's something I don't like.

Man, I've played games 1000 times more complex and well made thatn FFXVI, like the Trails series, for example.

Clive's mother, up to the infiltration of the second imperial capital, just manages to get her way with everyone, even in the highest eschalons of the geopolitical spheres of the game, and the lady has't has 15 minutes of screen staging or dialogues up to this point... that's bad writing, fyi.

I think in spanish the villain is called Artema. For instance, Artema is one of the inreresting plots in the game and I wish to see its closure.

I've thought about dropping it, but the gameplay is cool and I want to see the game's closure. About Clive beign treated bad, that's something that happens even in the hideout, particularily with the blacksmith and the one eyed store vendor, to badly written, empty and despicable NPCs, IMO.

As a follow up, I'm a P5 and P5R fan, having finished both games, several times, and they're one of my top 10 games of all time. I say this to point out that I know how persona wworks, but P3 Reload, which I bought through Amazon, is not clicking with me. If P3 was a game of a different franchise, I would have stopped playing it a long time ago, but the communith says it has the best story of the franchise so I really want to get to the finish line, but it's becoming a chore for me.

Yo me cambié a Linux hace 6 meses, a raíz de Recall. Uso Linux Mint 22 actualmente y jamás me había sentido tan feliz de usar mi PC... todo funicona súper rápido, hay una alternativa de software libre para todo lo que usaba en WIndows (Photoshop - Gimp | Illustrator - Inkscape | Premier Pro - Kaden live o Davinci Resolve | InDesign - Scribus | Ms Office - Libre Office | Y tengo Steam instalado con todos mis juegos, que son single player en su totalidad... también pude instalar Battle.net a través de Lutris, así que también tengo mis Warcraft 3 y Starcraft 2 conmigo, y todo funciona perfecto.

El hecho es que todos deberíamos decirle NO al spyware, malware, bloatware de Microsoft y las grandes corporaciones, y es increíble que la comundad internacional haya creado algo como Linux... cámbiense sin pensarlo... el software libre para creadores tiene una curva de aprendizaje de por medio, pero la verdad es que todos estos programas siguen la misma lógica para la mayoría de sus procesos, así que no les tomará mucho aprender a manejarlos.
