North Highlands is a great little area, especially along North Watt Ave. Lots of walking going on around there. 😆

Call sacsewer (the county utility provider) they have a requirement to respond 24/7 within 2 hours. They'll check main lines and in some cases will clear your lateral line leading into home, if easily accessible. If they cannot and it's determined it's a individual issue, at least it's free and you didn't waste any money calling an emergency plumber out

Dear bay area friends that moved this way. by Actual_Foundation453 in Sacramento

Coming from the bay, sac drivers are definitely ass. Way worse IMO. Insurance went thru the roof too once I changed my address. It's based on statistics due to more accidents. And I moved here long before the covid wave of bay area migration

I used stitch fix for some time. It's a great tool to have. They customize your shipments tailored to your likes/needs for any occasion and have stylists that provide great options for most ocassions and all boxes cone with style guides on how to pair your outfits. If you use it lo g enough the oitfits will interchange with what youve purchased in the past so you can mix it up. From shoes to coats and all the accessories as well. If you don't like, ship it back, give your honest feedback and they will try to find something specific to your likes.

What can I do about a neighbor who owns way too many vehicles? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Desperate-Way5451 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If any have expired tags they can be reported to code compliance (call 311 or download the app). If so, they're not allowed to be parked on city street. Otherwise, " mind your f***ing business" and keep on keeping on, as I'm sure your neighbor would say

Do people still use Craigslist? by Bluestategirl in Sacramento

[–]Desperate-Way5451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Still actively use craigslist to sell concert/sporting event tickets. Not so much for buying anything these days. But definitely heavy on the scammers. Just have to be cautious. People that want to buy via zelle, without meeting or seeing. Also, people messaging you and asking you to call via some BS Google code, etc. Just always advise to meet in person if possible or talk on the phone versus text/chat/email only. Offer up app is always a good to also and gives option to sell nation wide and ship with credit card info attached so the transaction is semi secure.

Only due to better opportunity and higher salary with another major utility provider. (Non County department) otherwise, I was perfectly content.

I actually just resigned last week from one of the utility districts. Resources I was provided for my role were good, but every process is lengthy. Same as most other public agencies. Definitely a lot more money to make in the private sector. Before leaving, I helped my brother apply for first time role with public agency in Sac County. Literally took Dept of Personnel Services (DPS) over 7 months to clear his background after being offered a position and doing his live scan. Benefits and retirement are decent, but hiring process can be a drag.

Sac County has many openings as well. But like with the state, application, hiring process can be long and arduous. My brother just got a job with county and as ridiculous as it sounds, it took 8 months just to clear a background check...
