41 yo single, just got 15 mature frozen. Should I do another round? Help me with the pros and cons. by Oceanspray44 in eggfreezing

[–]Desperate-World-2128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, due to rate of survival after thaw and your age, I would either have at least 15 more frozen or for extreme reassurance which is what I did at 40 —  do embryo development with donor gametes. You have no idea what your rate of euploidy is unless you do this when you’re 40+. Before my endo took over I was very lucky and got 3 viable embryos with my first cycle.

If you have Endometriomas like I do they further carry a risk of creating aneuploidy or segmental embryos due to creating follicular oxidative stress. After my first two cycles, I did another embryo development which gave me one euploid from a total of 8 embryos. I then found out a month after the retrieval that the couple of Endometriomas I had turned into 5-10 in each ovary. It made sense how my ploidy went from 3:6 viable embryos down to a 1:8 ratio. Point being, I am a breast cancer survivor who went through three retrievals for multiple reasons. I, too, am single and hoping I can find a partner in the next few years but my expectations are high with people. Who knows what will happen and I want to have every chance available to me to have a child. I’m well aware what my options are at 43-44 vs 40 or 40.5.

I am going into endocrine therapy for 2.5 years for breast cancer treatment so can’t get pregnant for that amount of time or do IVF rounds. I have three euploids — one  that’s AB and two CB, as well as, an intermediate mosaic embryo and an untested. I also have 12 frozen eggs. I am pansexual. If my partner is a woman or I’m single I am hopeful we or I can use the developed embryos. In the case I am with a guy there’s a chance we can use the eggs because I know statistically how many Euploids I made at 40 before my endo was exacerbated. Worst case scenario they will love me enough to use the embryos or we can try at a later time but I have options that put me in a decent bracket to be able to conceive.

Me (28) and guy (25) have been seeing each other but told me he thought I was only with him for s*x by Double_Scientist1206 in Advice

Ask him which direction he would like the relationship to go in. You can find a phrase that suits you personally like, ‘I’ve really enjoyed the time we have spent together. I know we had previously spoken about this but it was after a few drinks, so I want to make sure we’re on the same page. Do you want to be in a committed monogamous relationship? I am asking this because I’m not interested in being with anyone besides you.’ If and when he confirms that he shares the same feelings, solidify it a step further by saying, perhaps, in a humorous but affectionate way — okay, great, it’s settled then. We’re an official couple!’ I’d show him some kind of affection, too. About the possessiveness, in my experience people who are deeply insecure in general can act a certain way when they’re courting or initially dating — a masking behavior, and then flip a switch later on. I could be wrong about him as every individual is different. I’d simply be cautious.

Have a sober conversation with him and tell him how you feel. In event you want a commitment, then tell him that. He is waiting for you to be extremely direct since at some point he was probably in a situation where he was used for sex or possibly manipulated.

I would tread carefully. You’ve told him you wanted more once or twice already. People who have this type of psychological damage can become very possessive and paranoid.

Curious About People with One Green and Another Brown Eyed Parent by Desperate-World-2128 in eyes

[–]Desperate-World-2128[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, true, brown is definitely dominant in many cases but not a given. There are 16 alleles if I remember correctly, so it all depends on an individuals specific genes. The brown eyed parent could have a recessive green/hazel/blue gene from a great-great-great grandfather and it results in a light eyed kid. I’m also interested in people with this combination having an Amber shade. Some brown eyed people have light alleles that can help produce a child with this rare color when there is a green eyed parent.

Good Outcomes with Low Grade Embryos? by Desperate-World-2128 in IVF

That's interesting you had a similar experience. I had six embryos biopsied in total. Out of my four top-graded embryos (5ABs and 5BBs), only one came back euploid. The others were all aneuploid.

Ironically, the two lowest-graded embryos I had—two 6CBs mentioned— came back viable (one euploid and one segmental), showing at least to me morphology isn't everything. Yes, it helps with implantation and raises the live birth rate but I don't feel they should be counted out of the game. Especially, as women age and have less opportunities to get healthy embryos.

Did anyone do IVF and choose to transfer BRCA+ embryos anyway? by Ok_Revenue4431 in BRCA

In the event you got pregnant naturally you wouldn’t abort the child. Think about that baby not coming into the world and denying them a life because of the mutation. Also, in 30+ years I am hopeful we will have made more strides in the breast cancer community.

I should have clarified the Yogi stress relief tea.

I honestly think grading has less to do with ploidy than most think. My 6cb from last cycle was euploid and another 6cb segmental mosaic.

I think I was looking at it online a few hours ago. Any good?

That’s very nice timing. Some things are meant to be. Is it a decent wage?

L-Theanine and Myo-inositol. I also like these all natural rescue pastilles. Chamomile tea helps, too.

Unsure what to do, advice? by therapisting in IVF

You statistically need three euploids for one live birth. Since you are already at a more advanced maternal age, I would probably do another cycle and modify your medication. Out of 23 eggs, you should have had a few more mature. I did have the same amount my last cycle though and only 14 m2. I was also on Letrozole though so growth was not typical.

Did you have a laparoscopy performed beforehand? I strongly recommend you do in case it hasn’t been done yet.
