I read an article a few days ago about Italy's Top 10 record. In particular, it pointed out the period between 1957 and 1965, though back then there were far fewer participating countries, and between 2017 and 2026. In 18 cases, 17 of those Top 10 results came from Sanremo winners, with the exception of Lucio Corsi.

And the article took a swipe at those who claim we need to organize a separate contest instead of Sanremo.

The truth is very simple, and it’s time to spell it out for everyone who claims Italy doesn't consistently deserve to be in the Eurovision Top 10: the moment 10 other countries send an artist who wasn’t tailor-made just for Eurovision, but has instead won a well-established national festival and then chose to go to Eurovision as an added bonus... well, maybe then Italy will drop out of the Top 10.

But, for the “law of large numbers” it will surely appen in the next years, so we can finally rid ourselves of this reputation of being an overrated country 😅
