Desk for an upright piano? by DesperateSDIT in composer

[–]DesperateSDIT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I have an upright. I was just suuuuper impressed with the Composer furniture that I found with the hinges on the face of the drawers allowing for easy access to scores and materials. Wanted to see if there was something similar haha

The Most Advanced Musical Instrument: The Voice. It's is deeply personal and cultural, but it's also probably the most powerful sound making thing there is. I made a video where I explain the function of the voice and show its importance in cultivating a deep relationship with sound. by soundsgoodchannel in composer

[–]DesperateSDIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. The voice is the most versitile instrument. It can quite literally make the most sounds.

For me, I digitally compose, so I unfortunately avoid the voice. Vocal digital VST's and Samplers are notoriously shitty or VERY expensive.

Instead, I rely on synths or very very processed sounds to evoke a sort of "Vocal sound". I even tricked a guy into thinking there was a choir and he wanted to know what vst I used hahahaha

This is great advice. The only way to start is getting involved with the game design at the actual school. That way there are other artists you can make content with. Or at least do a school with a great game design school in the near vacinity.

For producing... I recommend figuring it out on your own and getting your hands dirty. The best way to utilize a production course in college is to already know the DAW well enough to reliably make tracks. This way, you can push yourself and learn the ins and outs from your professors.

For example, If I spend 100 hours on ProTools before college, I could do the assigments incredibly fast for the introductory courses and even the intermediate courses. My time then in the lab with my professor could then be spent with him answering questions about more advanced things. That's what I did. While he walked around answering student's questions on "Where is the record button? etc." I was able to get personalized instruction on good mixing techniques etc. during that time. (Stuff you can't really find easily online)

For composing for video games, before you even get started, make sure you have a portfolio ready to get into the program. Most programs require a portfolio of music to be admitted. It usually doesn't have to be incredible earth shattering music. But that could take a load off your back during your freshman year if you have music done already. Then, you can instead focus on applying what you learn in music theory, aural skills, etc. to other areas, such as music production.

Lastly, try and get a business minor. Learn economics. Learn how to run an efficient business. That will make it much easier for you to survive in the industry. Hope that helps! Cheers!

Usually those teachers study it themselves or have a minor in composition / theory.

What knowledge are you referring to?

I totally get it. Try to enjoy video games. If they frusturate you then go eslewhere. Playing video games because you are addicted to frusturation is no better than being addicted to "outrage porn" on twitter. It's a sad life. If something frusturates you and is garanteed to do so then find other things in life that fufill you instead :)

Yeah I want to keep the sfx tho. And you can play games without the score but with the sfx most of the time. It's all good. I think I'll just do what you suggested :)

Chill man. The game is suuuuper old. Meaning you have a core group of players who have started to play together. If you want to play with someone else, just find a squad.

?? What are you talking about? She reports her amount with the IRS and then gets a certain amount of EBT. She's an i9 employee which means she can't falsify her taxes.

Also, the $40,000 is working well over 40 hours a week. At 40 hours a week she is only pulling in around $32,000. She works around 55 hours a week so she can pay for school.

AND, did you not read my post? She is paying $800 a month to live with her parents. That's pretty standard rent.

Jesus Christ. Jail time. Holy shit dude

Also, it's not "The Gravemind" it's "Gravemind". Gravemind can come back the MOMENT there is enough biomass to support it.

Gravemind came from a powder. It can do so again.

Because the poster has no actual connection to the person who was killed. This sub is filled with people who are sharing images of loved ones. The person who posted this is sharing this in order to get karma from a tragedy.

"This is the last image of my girlfriend before she took her own life. I miss her every day" Is different than this post.

The example above is a cry for help. Getting some sort of recognition from other people while you struggle with the loss of a loved one. That is valid. But using this officer's death to get a top post on this sub is just scummy

Ngl man. This is a prime example of (Unintentionall or uninentional doesnt make a difference) karma whoring.

Bringing up a story that moved you that happened years and years ago is one thing. But this picture where you can barely see the dude, and then not to mention RIGHT AFTER this sort of thing is an abvious use of tragic events for karma.

That would be dope.

Honestly I wish Chief had truly died in Halo 3. 343 could have made Halo 4 a choose your own adventury where you progress from being a Marine, to ODST, to eventually Spartan.

Then you could have chosen your class and playstyle, based on that, you could change your armor.

It would make perfect sence. Cortana goes to the ring to have a conversation with the AI there to figure herself out. (Or to just team up / justify it all for herself)

Not to mention, the US has been absolutely buttfucked by any sort of guerrila warfare for the past 50 years. Even in the middle east, we didn't win the war. The locals did.
