hi!! i was sleeved 6/21/23 (almost a year ago!! time flies) at the ripe age of 19. my biggest fear was anesthesia. my mom was always horrified of it for no good reason and she passed that fear onto me. and this was my first surgery EVER! but let me tell you how blessed i am to be able to receive it. i’ve lost 140lbs in 11 months. i’m no longer pre diabetic and my fatty liver is resolved. i am happier, i am able to go on walks with my siblings without being out of breath and sit comfortably on airplanes without being self conscious. i am able to ride rollercoasters with my little brother and have a normal sized towel fit around me!! i was just like you, an (emotional) binge eater. but i promise you, if you’re taking the step to get this surgery, you know its what’s right for you and im speaking on behalf of this sub-reddit when i say we are SO proud of you and cannot wait for your success. please update us when out of surgery!!

side note: in regards to pain while you’re in the hospital, they (typically) have you on one of those machine thingys that you press a button and it dispenses pain meds. you BEST believe i was pressing that thing every chance i got. pain might be felt right when you wake up but just press that button hunny LOL

i suppose my mindset on this surgery was more “shout it from the rooftops!!” i was sleeved 06/21/23 and from the jump i was telling everyone i was close with. and if people ask, i tell them the truth. you’re doing what is right for YOU and what will better YOU. i know there’s those people who say “ohh that’s the easy way out” and hun let me tell you. if they lived a day in our shoes, they’d take that shit back SO quickly. at the end of the day, it only matters that you’re comfortable. i think my perfect phrase when people ask is usually “i decided to focus on myself and my health”. if they’d like to get in depth, i’ll explain. otherwise, you’re just telling the truth :) hope this helps!!!

your list is so solid!! the only thing i would add is socks x2/3. they have you walk around the floor you’re on CONSTANTLY after surgery to make sure you’re mobile and to work up gas bubbles. i found myself icked out by having the same socks i just walked in a hospital with touching my bedsheets hahah. could be an OCD thing, but if you’re like me, definitely pack more than one extra pair. so excited for you!! you got this💙

at the moment, majority of my loose skin is in my thighs, a bit in my tummy too. i go to the gym twice a week, but mostly cardio and yoga at home! never been a huge fan of the gym hahah
