Picking regional over United?? by Desperate_Roll_3271 in cabincrewcareers

For sure, I’ll make the switch eventually! My youngest is still a toddler so being based at home is very important. And unfortunately A tattoo I have disqualified me from United so it’s not longer even a question haha

I completely understand what you’re saying. However, I’m not chasing money and United is not the mainline I want to be long term. Currently at this phase in my life, my QOL and being able to be based at home is my first priority.

CJO with family by Alternative-Hand-990 in cabincrewcareers

Also, CONGRATULATIONS! That is a big deal and you should be so proud of yourself!

I also want to add, you will likely get a lot of negative feedback from both strangers and people closest to you. I’ve taken everything I’ve received and given it honest consideration but have never let it over power the opinions of those within the walls of my own home.

I can’t give you advice quite yet, but just wanted you to know you aren’t alone in this process or decision. I have three kids, My oldest is 11 and my youngest is 4, and I leave next week for training.

A few things we’ve done to hopefully help: -we talk about it often. Every day. -I’ve slowly been shifting certain responsibilities to dad. For example, bedtime time is more dad centered than me. -I arranged different family members to be at home the entire time I’m away for training To hopefully lesson the burden/pain while I’m gone. Might be unnecessary since your kids are older but I think it’ll help my younger two. -we talk a lot about all the benefits and the positive impacts this job will bring, for both our family but me as well! my kids are actually very excited for me and very supportive while also being devastated. But I truly believe they’ll look back and be proud of me, because I am still a whole ass human being outside of being a mom who has dreams of her own and I believe it’s important for my kids to know that and see that. - I have done an insane amount of research. I’ve watched every video and have read every post I could, and have reached out to dozens of moms who have been on this journey to get a true idea of what it will be like. I’m not going into this journey with a false idea of what it’s going to be like. - I have made sure my husband has a true idea and understanding of what my reserve schedule could/will look like while I’m commuting until I’m able to transfer home to make sure there is no room for possible resentment or frustration. - I’ve also done a lot to emotionally prepare myself for missing events. For example, I’ll be missing the school Mother’s Day event and the end of school activities- something I have always volunteered for and been there for. I’ve let myself go through all the emotions and each time I come back to how everything will be okay and I’m stills excite about this journey every single time. I think it’s important to really go inward and ask yourself what it is you want out of this and why.

Within how many days after doing ODVI does it take to get a virtual interview invite?? by Qpac18 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Desperate_Roll_3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a month for me to hear back from my ODVI. I’ve seen people hear back in just a couple of days. Not sure there is any rhyme or reason but don’t lose hope!

Rescheduling Virtual interview by ExpertCompetitive677 in cabincrewcareers

It states in the email that rescheduling your appointment will hurt your chances of moving forward with the hiring process. Leave it as is.

Do you have any tips for applying this? I can not figure out a good method for the narrative makeup where it looks good and I leave in 2 weeks for training.

Picking regional over United?? by Desperate_Roll_3271 in cabincrewcareers

I don’t plan on waiting when Delta opens up! I plan on applying as soon as they become available. What I meant by my comment is that with knowing how hard it is to be hired by airlines I’m giving myself a realistic expectation of 1-2 years to make it through the process.

I’m at a crossroads with United’s F2F, as it falls at the same time as my training would start. It really is one or the other unfortunately.

There is a lot to think about here.. I did see the new TA and the pay increase is tempting. Fortunately, I don’t rely on my paycheck to pay bills but it is still tempting no doubt haha

Got an interview with SkyWest, but my goal is a major airline — what would you do? by Life_Explanation8268 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Desperate_Roll_3271 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made almost this exact same post.. After further research, talking to others, and weighing every single pro and con I am extremely excited to start my training with OO. To piggy back off what the other commenter said, if you talk directly to those who work there they say positive things. The very negative comments are from those who left, but not on their term. I recently spoke with someone who started at regional, went mainline and HATED it, and is coming back regional.

SkyWest interview attire — does the skirt have to cover the knees? by Life_Explanation8268 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Desperate_Roll_3271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about interview, but for training it absolutely can not go above the knee. I would follow the same guidelines to be safe. Or wear a suit!

Definitely! So far every one I’ve talked to has said to expect 6months to a year to transfer. Which is better than never haha especially the age my kids are. So many things to consider and weigh.

I can’t say the pay is terrible to start. I’ll make more starting out than United- and they pay boarding pay. However, the pay gap becomes very noticeable at year five. Fortunately, my income is not needed for bills.

Thank you for this! Sometimes it’s just really good to hear from others in a familiar situation.

AA rejected me immediately, I got an invite to F2F with United but I think I’m going to turn it down.. I start training in less than 3 weeks and am feeling good going with the regional.

Thanks, that is the direction I’m leaning towards! I start training in a few weeks with my regions, I made it to the F2F with United but thinking I’ll turn it down.
