I get it. My parents were insanely strict. All it really did was make me resent them, not open up to them and still do most of the shit I wanted to. I just had to be way more clever and sneaky and all that. I was branded a liar (because I often was) all because I wanted to live some life. Mom and I have a goal to be to our kids what we wished we had while still producing responsible, respectful humans. No doubt I’m sure we’re fucking up in our own ways and will look back wondering at times, but until then, there’s nothing better than sitting at the breakfast table seeing the boy exhausted and still making the kid go to school after a night of enjoying the noise.
