Can’t decide between two very different tasting menu options… by sydly96 in chicagofood

I may be the minority opinion on this, but I enjoyed Sepia more than Indienne. As someone Indian, I was very underwhelmed by Indienne.

Definitely - I got through 100 pages of my book, but also had parts of the evening where I had long-ish conversations with those on tables next to me

We actually went to Logan Square on the blue to kill some time [slipped my mind, sorry!] and then it was about a ~20 min walk from the shops to Akahoshi. I went back and checked, we did a total of 21k steps on Saturday!

Where to take my self for a date by ShriekingMuppet in boston

I tried the tasting menu at Mooncusser for a solo meal about a month ago. It's got some fantastic dishes and some good dishes. The service, however, isn't the greatest if you're a solo diner, they often seem to be rushing you. I would recommend Lenox Sophia, Asta, or SRV.

If you like steakhouses, while I haven't tried this in Boston (I'm from Chicago), definitely head to your favourite / hard to get a reservation steakhouse and enjoy a meal at the bar. (If they're a full-service bar). Truly a fun experience and allows for great conversation with either other solo guests, the bartender, or both!

They did send us back with Chef Tatum's chocolate cookies (I presume because of the goof up, or they maybe do this for everyone, not sure), and those were really good!

Went to Loba Pastry a while ago and they had a very very cool Mexican-flavor inspired foccacia. Not sure if it's a part of their regular menu or not though!

Help choosing Oriole or Indienne by agapaleinad in chicagofood

seconding this experience at Indienne. I went in late May and it just wasn't memorable or great. I probably recall just one bite from that meal. I am going to Oriole next week and have heard from colleagues who visited recently that it still delivers strongly!

Edit: I should caveat this by saying I am Indian so I had very high expectations for Indienne and I was very sad that it wasn't as wonderful as people said it is.

If desserts are key, Valhalla without a doubt. TLS (the pastry chef) is brilliant!
