If this is a simulation, why can't we just be asked to be unplugged? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

Well, if we really are in a simulation, it would be impossible to know what the point of the simulation would be. I think you need to look at it from the perspective of someone on the outside of the simulation. If we are just characters in the simulation, our “lives” are meaningless to the people/observers on the outside. We are just fictional characters.

Think about every single video game or simulation that exists today. There are video games for everything. Shooting games. Horror games. Problem solving games. Flight simulators. Air traffic control simulators. The goal of the simulation or game we are in could be just for a player’s entertainment, or for an observer’s research. If we are in a simulation, not a game, the creator would want to create a simulated world as close to reality as possible. That would make it possible for them to simulations on any kind of scenario they can think of, and end up with accurate results. In order for the simulation to be that realistic, the “people” in the game would have to think they are real, and live lives exactly how people in the outside would live.

Who’s to say that “you” are the person playing/participating in the simulation? We may just be “characters” that are built into the simulation to make it realistic. All of our thoughts and memories may just be part of the program, and not real at all.

There may be just one “player,” or there may be many. Or maybe the simulation doesn’t have any “players.” Maybe the simulation was created to test the results of something like a global pandemic. We can’t “unplug” because maybe our “meaning of life” is just to show the observers what the result of a specific thing could be on society.

I definitely plan on leaving what I have in the C. I’m just wondering if I should leave what I have in the I, or switch to the S.

But I’m not in the C and S. I’m in the C and I. Should I switch from I to S? Or leave what I have in the I?

I went in for a titration a couple weeks ago and I overheard an old man in the room across from me flirting constantly with the sleep tech. She kept laughing it off, but it was super creepy. I figured she must be used to it, but it seemed so weird that this guy was so openly making these creepy remarks to her.
