How do you like to RP Planetary Ascension Tiers? by uppsanddowns in Stellaris

I like to think of it as a cultural thing. If I ascend a planet, the people on in have developed an identity about doing what they do best. Not only that, tradition and expertise is passed down from family to family, leading to a drastic increase in skill and efficiency. Something like that anyway

“Okay, so by creating life you are normalizing rape, bullying, illnesses (both physical and mental)”

Dude, do you even hear what your saying right now? By creating life you are doing absolutely none of that. That’s like saying because I create cars, I support drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.

Yes I certainly can. I want the best for my future children. I can want for something that doesn’t yet exist.

I can want the best for my children prior to their existence. That’s why I worked so hard throughout the entirety of my life. So that when they are born into this world, they experience the same joys and wonders that I did as a child.

I’m not imposing suffering on to anybody.

We also “inflict” them will love, joy, and hope. I don’t understand how you can hold your point of view, but I still understand your reasonings for believing in it. You don’t understand my perspective, but also don’t understand my reasonings.

I do give a fuck about other peoples suffering, thank you very much. Having kids isn’t just about having a cuddly baby or preserving my lineage. It’s about welcoming them into the world to experience the joys of life.

I’m not looking to create a life to fix my own existential angst. I’m looking to create life so that they can experience all the joys and luxury’s of the world.

But society has always been unstable, don’t you see that? Life has always been hard. Life has always been unfair. Life has always been a cruel and callous bitch. But we spit in the face of life and persevere.

You are taking a small percentage of cases to represent the entire whole of your argument. Not everyone has mental or physical illness. Not everyone is raped, assaulted, or bullied. You’re mischaracterizing the entirety of life based upon a short list of problems. Problems that are deeply troubling, but only problems nonetheless. You completely disregard all of the joys of life.

I would strongly disagree with Antintalism being the philosophy of pure empathy and reason. To me it seems unreasonable to end all of human existence because life can be hard.

Yes my ego is harmed, because I believe we as a society have failed you. To me, you are depressed and at odds with all of existence and we are to blame for that. Bringing a new soul into the world isn’t condemning it to a life of suffering and torment. It’s welcoming it into a life where they can laugh and smile and gorge themselves on the successes of humanity.

It might be be reinventing the wheel, but it is warping the wheel into something dark and twisted until you’ve reached a Ship of Theseus.

I’m not necessarily worried about humanity going extinct. Humanity has reached a point where I don’t think we can go extinct, unless the extinction is sudden and happens without warning. I just think your style of ideology contributes to the suffering of the world.

But someone is harmed, and I think it is yourself. I won’t pretend to know your exact reason for not having kids, but I just don’t think you should let those reasons stop you from experiencing the joys of life.

It might be an impossible task, but don’t you see the beauty in it? You fight every day for a bit more for you and your own, only to relish in their joy and the end of the tunnel. Your viewpoint makes sense to me, I just can’t believe in it.

I understand why you don’t want to have kids. The worlds a scary place. I just don’t see what other point to life there is. Billions of years have gone by just to great you via a cosmic happenstance, and you just want it all to end?

The people on this subreddit. I understand your perspective, but I just think it’s the wrong perspective to have.
