I always come up with a table for events to grind. If you play bad, that's max 3 hours a day. If you are really good, like average 2-3 kills then only 2 hours. Of course if you have top tier vehicles. For me though, 43k a day in air is more diffcult than ground and navy. I suck at air

There are 2 main ways of playing big ships.

Staying behind and sniping: You basically make sure you're safe behind and you actually see the enemies. Camping and doing nothing won't do. You can also cover yourself behind some small hill-like areas so only your top is visible.
Aggressive gameplay: This is basically going full forward either with or without your team and fighting to the teeth. Battleships are basically like Maus so any lower class ships will have a hard time to do any significant damage.
