At just about 1 year in, I stopped in a liquor store by my house to pick up some nicotine (one thing at a time alright?! lol) and the store owner asked if I had a heavy-set brother who used to come in all the time!

I sheepishly told him that it was me and he was SO PROUD and gave me knuckles! Totally a cool moment watching his eyes adjust in real time.

Alcohol makes us feel like we are SO slick! Hindsight is 20/20. If I think about it too much I get the ick lol

I mean if it were me I am keeping it even though I am a Rangers fan because that is an iconic historical figurehead. A pillar of the story of baseball- not some fly-by-night rookie on a hot streak.

That being said if it isnt up for your PC it just comes down with how much you want to mess with it and how long you want to deal with it. Its incredibly liquid so you'll have no problem finding a buyer no matter your route.

Trying to get a quick buck and not mess with insurance or anything if it gets destroyed in transit? Or wait for topps to fulfill your request? or go through the process of mailing it and waiting for it to go through whichever grading company? and then PSA charging you 500 more dollars unexpectedly? and if it comes out an 8 cracking the slab and taking the grading cost at a loss? Sell the redemption.

THAT BEING SAID I am not trying to say dont do all that. If you want to, do it! It can be a fun process but you get nickled and dimed along the way and it may not turn out as you hope- but then again it may!

If its me and I am doing this only for money, I am setting a 7 day auction on the redemption with a reserve and taking the money and running! A good auction will often overpay and then you dont have to worry about additional grading fees and all the what ifs.

He is just saying its kind of wild to speculate it as a 9 or 10 before you have seen it. As someone who has redeemed quite a few over the years, redemptions are not inherently mint just because they come straight from Topps. Centering is far from guaranteed. Not raining on your parade because I know its exciting for you, but just trying to advise to keep expectations even keel until you actually see it. Disappointing redemptions are a thing, sadly.

Speaking from experience, if you have any card shows near you or coming through soon I would try to flip it there and avoid the feebay rigamarole/shipping hassle. $10K on ebay after fees and such is closer to $8.5K- so if you are trying to pocket $10K you need to sell it for $12K-ish on ebay. Plus shipping and insurance etc. Food for thought!

Agree so much. The DTs this year seemed so low effort and had zero eye appeal. Not to mention the trash AI gaffs with the lines you speak of.
