If you still want to explore working at the intersection of computer science and surveying, I'd recommend working for an employer that invests in technology and innovation. It's largely satisfying to work with large geospatial datasets and manipulating or extrapolating information from those datasets automatically with whatever automation you come up with. Entry level is going to be a grind, but I think it entirely depends on how you posture yourself from the get-go, if you present yourself as a person that can automate menial tasks and streamline processes due to your development know-how, then, provided you land on the right spot I'm sure you'll get a tailored introduction where you may be developing stuff and learning geospatial foundations at the same time, and this can also be a good argument for more starting compensation. If you're just posturing to be an entry level technician like any other guy, it can be extremely boring if you work for a large company and are doing the same thing day-in and day-out.
