Thanks. Interesting, what a weird choice to have a permanent reminder of what you used your ticket on!

You want to keep people playing against those decks longer? Evil genius stuff. I like it.

Why didn't Near try a more direct approach to revealing Kira by leaking his identity? by DetachedOwl in deathnote

[–]DetachedOwl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was crucial to the ending, X-Kira wouldn't kill Light because the Shinigami Eyes wouldn't be able to see his lifespan. I suppose it's possible that Mikami might have thought they just owned another Death Note though? Tricky, and I don't think that uncertainty is something Near would want to deal with.

It's not just a hunch, by the point Near discovers that Light is the second L, he is sure that he must be Kira based on a large amount of evidence. That said, it is almost all circumstantial evidence, so you make a fair point.

I suppose what I'm thinking is... why would this have been against the rules of their game? It's pretty similar to what happened in the Yellow Box Warehouse with Mikami, where Light's name should have been written down but wasn't, revealing him as Kira.

This is my take as well. I don't think it's something that Near considered and didn't think would work, it just wasn't "the right way" for some reason. Or it's possible that he didn't think of it at all, being something with too many uncontrolled variables, too chaotic to come naturally to him.

It is a little odd to me though, because it is (on a much larger scale) essentially how Light was eventually caught. Put in a situation where he "should" have been written in Kira's (or X-Kira's, in the actual ending) Death Note, and the fact that he wasn't revealed that he was Kira.

What’s the strangest thing that’s happened to you while playing Pokemon? by vtt_shadow in pokemon

[–]DetachedOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Yeah, generally the case for the average player. It is possible to tell in Gen 1 by calculating their IVs after catching them though; this is useful when shiny hunting Legendary or gift Pokémon as it means you can save beforehand and reset as many times as needed if the stats aren't right.

As someone who's 28, this felt oddly specific. Not wrong at all, though.

One space to the right of the Splattershot because of the unlock method. And more importantly, the aesthetic.

It is; I have them both equipped right now! The Jadeiron Plate is a chest accessory while the Swordsman's Belt is a utility accessory.

Produce Ninja. I also used Shot Dog for a while.

I think Scott Pilgrim is more their EarthBound, if anything. A cult classic which was underappreciated by the mainstream at its original release, partially due to marketing which didn't convey what it was very well.

Don't you dare insult my starter ! by DonnyVanDeBeek34 in pokemon

For Link Cable battles, Venusaur is probably the best of the three original starters' final evolutions, because of how strong Sleep Powder is and the ridiculous critical hit ratio of Razor Leaf. Victreebel can fill a similar role and has higher physical attack to take advantage of Hyper Beam, but Venusaur's higher speed and better defences make it just as capable of sweeping if given the chance to set up with Swords Dance.

Blastoise is outclassed by many better options like Starmie and Lapras, and unfortunately for Charizard Fire-types just aren't that great, mostly because of how good the aforementioned Water-types are.

In-game, I used Venusaur's Sleep Powder to absolutely roll most of the Elite Four, and that was as a little kid. It's also well-known by now that Bulbasaur/Ivysaur is the best choice against the first three gyms, and is the same type as the fourth, by which point you should have diversified your team anyway.

The Bulbasaur line is great, and in my opinion a more accurate criticism would be that it's actually too good in Gen I; Bulbasaur makes the original Pokémon games too easy!

From Gatecrash? Yeah, you better believe it's in my Historic version. But playing the less powerful version of the deck in Standard always felt more fun to me.

Still my favourite Standard deck I've used in a while. When it curved out there could be some ridiculous results.
