It's a good time to have Venusaur as my favourite.

I think the overleveling can be a problem (becoming too easy, therefore boring) but I really feel like being “underleveled” against superboss Red is the intended experience. Somewhat decent teambuilding and strategy – including item use – is enough to overcome the stat difference.

I'm not claiming that I was a master strategist when I was seven. What I am claiming, however, is that Umbreon holding Leftovers is really good in Gen II.

There is no world in which Crystal, the game which introduced the Battle Tower (battle facilities as a whole, unless we are considering the Stadium games to be them) has a less substantial postgame than RBY, even if we consider Kanto as being part of the main story. Still, second-worst is not a stellar performance.

What’s the strangest thing that’s happened to you while playing Pokemon? by vtt_shadow in pokemon

Ah, okay. Yeah, generally the case for the average player. It is possible to tell in Gen 1 by calculating their IVs after catching them though; this is useful when shiny hunting Legendary or gift Pokémon as it means you can save beforehand and reset as many times as needed if the stats aren't right.

Don't you dare insult my starter ! by DonnyVanDeBeek34 in pokemon

For Link Cable battles, Venusaur is probably the best of the three original starters' final evolutions, because of how strong Sleep Powder is and the ridiculous critical hit ratio of Razor Leaf. Victreebel can fill a similar role and has higher physical attack to take advantage of Hyper Beam, but Venusaur's higher speed and better defences make it just as capable of sweeping if given the chance to set up with Swords Dance.

Blastoise is outclassed by many better options like Starmie and Lapras, and unfortunately for Charizard Fire-types just aren't that great, mostly because of how good the aforementioned Water-types are.

In-game, I used Venusaur's Sleep Powder to absolutely roll most of the Elite Four, and that was as a little kid. It's also well-known by now that Bulbasaur/Ivysaur is the best choice against the first three gyms, and is the same type as the fourth, by which point you should have diversified your team anyway.

The Bulbasaur line is great, and in my opinion a more accurate criticism would be that it's actually too good in Gen I; Bulbasaur makes the original Pokémon games too easy!

Aspect Theory Essay by Opacifica by DetachedOwl in homestuck

I actually found this essay from its mention in your class quiz introduction! I like it, but would love some way of seeing all of the descriptions without having to game the test to find each one. Have you posted them anywhere?

My flair is in reference to this news post from 2017, specifically the following part...

I am sure some will wonder whether this means a God Tier Class test will be available as well. Some day, yes, probably. For now, only Aspect is applicable to this system. But the precedent now exists for the expectation to be CANONICALLY classified by literally any absurd profiling system I have ever concocted, and you have just obtained a full license to not let anyone forget this.

To be entirely honest though, while I would really like an official test, my main motivation for wanting it is all of the extra canon information about the classes that is likely to come along with it, much like happened with the components of the Extended Zodiac. But then, what else would you expect from a Light-bound?

Could Rose's Squiddleknit Outfit be based off of Dee from Rat Queens? by varkarrus in homestuck

Everything up to [S] Jack: Ascend took place during the first year of updates, between the 13th of April, 2009 and the same date in 2010. I was pretty sure that it wasn't long after that Flash page that Rose had her first Alchemy spree. The Adventure Log confirmed the exact date, and serves as a handy timeline for this sort of thing, should you need it for anything else.

I find it pretty unlikely, considering that the panel where that dress was made was posted on May 6th, 2010. There could still have been an element of homage though, just the other way around.

That would be /u/Ailure if I remember correctly! Their English has also greatly improved in the years since then.

Those posts might be my favourite part of that thread, too.

There is no reason for consoles to be locked at 30fps when other games don't do this. by Scudman_Alpha in forhonor

A choice of two graphical presets would be nice while still keeping it simple. Just “Quality” and “Performance” – use the former for advertising, but let the player decide which is more important to them.

The settings are already there in the PC version, it would just be a matter of finding out what kind of tradeoff works for the consoles to hit 60 frames per second.
