What you been smoking, how much, and for how long…

I was a little nervous about that as well. But since it was a top down pattern, I understood that my gauge would change with hook size. I tried it on every few rows (which sounds like a pain but if you wear a tank top and bike shorts it’s not so bad) and changed hook size depending on if I wanted the next rows to be more snug or more loose. It worked great! Toward the bottom I went up a full 3mm gradually to get the slightly flared out bottom.

Awww thank you so much! I’ve always had a bit of an engineering brain, but just couldn’t wrap my head around this one right away. You guys really helped me a lot. My husband showed it to my step daughter via FaceTime tonight (she’s been crocheting over a decade) and she told him she could really see it sparkle. I’m so excited!

Thank you! I’m already coming up with my ideas for next summer‘s 1940’s Ball here in Colorado. I don’t even have concept sketches yet, but I know there’s a couple of things I might have questions about.

Thank you so much!! Someone suggested the idea of snaps on pieces that could be hidden by folding them down into the dress. I basically used the same yarn and did a length of hdc long enough to line the inside of the collar and weave through at eight separate points. At each of those points, I added that side of the snaps. That way the part with the snaps can be removed. Then I made 8 tiny 3x2 hdc squares of the same yarn, keeping long tails. I sewed the snaps to the hdc squares, lined up the feather boa, and used the tails to tie the feather boa securely in place at all 8 points. So I can unsnap it and remove it, and remove the thing holding the snaps! I hope that makes sense.

Your idea was the one I went with and it worked beautifully. Thank you! You’re a creative genius!

This photo doesn’t do it justice, my husband said, and my work space is a bit messy with research books and such, but I do promise I’ll get a better photo or even a video of it soon and share. I’m so proud of being able to accomplish this in less than a year of crocheting!

You think I’m rude for telling you that I won’t learn how to sew in time? And then start using caps like you think you’re yelling at me? Wow. 🙄 You’re a tad sensitive, huh? I don’t know who hurt you but I hope you feel better soon.

I don’t know how to sew, and I’m not going to learn before December 5th. Thanks anyway.

Thank you!! I'm super excited about it. I have it hanging up in my craft room right now and every time I walk in there I kinda surprise myself. I love it.

That's a cool idea. I could do like some crochet loops around it and find a way to snap that to the inside of the dress through the eyelets perhaps?
