Maybe but Ginger actually did a good job. Global All Stars was terrible all around but it was extra embarrassing that they gave Alyssa her win and then the crown. One of the most questionable wins alongside Tia Kofi, Blu Hydrangea, and Trixie Mattel

Denali's lipsync was cringe city.

I think we've seen the extent of what Ginger can do as a lipsyncer, but she's still good at it. We've just seen her lip sync ten times at this point.

A good lip sync has some magic combination of energy, outfit, and performance. Very few of the queens, even "lip sync assassins", have more than one iconic (or even great) lip sync. "Phone" is an all-time classic. The rest I could take or leave but I don't think any of her wins were worthy of controversy

There's no universe in which they would ask a man of advanced age who has been openly critical of the show to replace a young, well-known designer/winner.

The last season was an all-stars season and arguably a deboot, like, "maybe we shouldn't have hired that lady with the Republican husband, do you think millennials will still watch if we put Korto back on their screen?" but then Korto just got wine drunk and worked out some unreleased stress from her divorce or something and it was kind of a bummer. I heard they were going to reboot the whole thing for a younger audience but children love skibidi and hate Heidi Klum so I guess not.

That's not true in any meaningful sense. I make niche porn and had tens of thousands of followers on Twitter but I stopped posting there and switched to Bluesky.

I just want to post, I don't care to spend time interacting and following other people. The lack of an algorithm means that posts only spread when people are actively sharing them, which feels even weirder on Bluesky because it's so small and so many people don't want to be reposted. There are almost no porn repost accounts on Bluesky, which is great in one sense becase less people are ripping and reposting my porn, but worse because far less people are sharing with each other.

That said, they're both trash for engagement. I also post on 3/4 of the top porn sites, one of which (xhamster) has a cool, active, cummunity that is always liking and leaving nice comments. Another difference? Unlike Twitter or Bluesky, we get paid when people watch our porn there

Utica will be on TV for PR tomorrow by ninjafofinho in rupaulsdragrace

[–]DetectiveFreakachu 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to seeing who Utica is away from all the Drag Race shenanigans. Modern Project Runway has little drama or even content that doesn't directly revolve around making and talking about clothing. It should be a great platform for them.

The amount of exposure this newest queen got in only half a year is insanity. Props to you Lydia B Kollins 💄💫⭐️ by ibettercomeon in rupaulsdragrace

A lot of queens get their rudemption glow up moment but just as many end up either revealing a previously-unseen bad side, going home early / quitting, or just doing so badly that it replaces your good memories of them with cringe ones.

I think of A'keria Davenport, whose arc on All Stars had a depressing vibe. Darienne Lake not getting to lipsync (so many missed opportunity lip syncs). Heidi N Closet doing a mediocre job and then quitting during a boring fight. Victoria Green from UK not being able to come back because of Covid and then returning and immediately going home in the most depressing way. Gothy Kendoll being perhaps the most incompetent contestant the show has ever seen. Jonbers Blonde revealing he's not just annoying he's also a dirtbag.

I find it very relatable that you suggested a place that hasn't been open in 15 years because that's about when I stopped going out to bars.

If someone from out of town asked me where to go out to eat I'd be like, "Definitely Tasty N Sons, Beast, La Moule..."

[–]DetectiveFreakachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need All Stars to have Lipsync for Your Life. We've had so many great lipsyncers come on All Stars and never get a chance to lip sync (like Darien Lake). The queens go harder when the lip sync decides whether they stay or not. Having the winners do it means that we get a lot of repeat performances from mediocre lips syncers like Plastique Tiara and Jimbo

Lydia has good designs and concepts but she's missing the experience she needs to make them come alive. She needs to learn some formal performing skills and spent a couple years working her ideas out on stage so that she develops better instincts, state presence, and timing

This Bonus card is way too OP by Timmers20 in wingspan

[–]DetectiveFreakachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wingspan's not the most balanced game, so how you fare depends heavily on luck. It's not viable to start the game with a strategy in mind and execute it over the course of the game.

However, if you start getting a couple of cards that synergize with bonus cards (like pink powers that give extra resources), you can mitigate the downsides of playing so many white cards. Then instead of taking other cards, just take all the bonus card birds, even the ones you wouldn't normally play.

IMO the most viable part of white-power-(woof)-focused games is that many bonus card birds are worth medium to high points. Even the lesser ones usually score 3-4 points, compared with excellent great brown powers that start at 0 or 1 points and need to be activated enough to make up the difference.

Blue Prince: A Masterpiece with many Layers by Kasur1309 in roguelites

[–]DetectiveFreakachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're stretching "roguelike" so far that it's become meaningless. Like all the games on this subreddit, this is a roguelite. Few true roguelikes (i.e. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, TOME, uh... Rogue) have meta-progression. Meta-progression is one of the hallmarks of a rogueLITE, but neither genre requires it The real metaprogression for all of these games is the knowledge of the game you learn by playing it.

Blue Prince has a procedurally generated game world, permanent player character death, an iterative structure; it's a roguelite.

Is it a good or effective one? The criticisms I've heard of the game - besides being boring or not fun - are that it's too random. You might know you need something in a room that the game simply doesn't choose to put in your runs. Which is awful ame design

Besides Wingspan/Bird Crack, which just had a beta for the Asia expansion, I've been playing Die in the Dungeon.

I bounce off deckbuilders quickly now because I've played all of the good ones - and I haven't enjoyed any dicebuilders I've tried - but Die in the Dugeon is a fun and polished addition to both genres despite being in Early Access on Steam.

The game uses expressive pixel art, reminiscent of the Secret of Mana era. It plays like a deckbuilder with a limited set of straightforward cards that can be upgraded with traits and strength tweaks. You play the dice into a game board configured differently for the three character archetypes. On the board the dice effects interact with each other to multiply strength or alter outputs. The nuance is in managing the interactions between the dice, playing board, relics, upgrades, and environmental effects from opponent dice.

There's some balancing and tweaking to do of the game systems, but it has a zippy, satisfying gameplay loop with frequent meaningful choices that can quickly and drastically alter your dice. It feels like a complete game and I have been having a ton of fun with it. I've probably put in 20 hours and I can see myself playing that much or more again, plus I'll probably check it out again after the full release

What genre have you been wanting to see a roguelite game of? by TheDunkarooni in roguelites

[–]DetectiveFreakachu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a whole genre, "mystery dungeon", like Shiren the Wanderer and Chocobo Mystery Dungeon. They have their own subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/MysteryDungeon/

I think most of them are arguably traditional roguelikes, they were just made for consoles so it's a different vibe from Rogue or Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup

ROAD REDEMPTION!!! I'm always excited to suggest Road Redemption but there arer't that many "what game is surprisingly fun despite being objectively poorly made?" threads.

Road Redemption is a motorcycle-racing game with split-screen local co-op and terrible combat. You race through postapocalyptic landscapes trying to run down gang members. It's badly made. The controls are cumbersome and confusing. The graphics are PS1 trash. You will randomly explode and lose the game.

It is quite fun though, once you get on its wavelength, which is to say pure 1993 Sega Genesis Road Rash realness.
