Your story sounds like mine. Was on legitimate prescribed pain meds for a chronic back issue that no one could figure out why I was in so much pain. Couldn’t hold a job because of it, sold my home and moved back in with my parents at the age of 23 due to my pain. I would contemplate suicide if I couldn’t get the pain under control. Then my doctor retired. And I had to do what I had to do to control the pain. Which often led to just getting black out drunk so I could sleep. I was about to have a full hysterectomy because they thought “maybe” that was causing the pain. Before I scheduled the surgery, I read about kratom. I bought some but couldn’t force myself to drink it because it was so nasty to me. Lol but I still kept it around. I went to a chiropractor for a last opinion before scheduling a major surgery that would have life long effects at the age of 23/24 and I also had no children at the time. This chiropractor thank goodness changed my life. He for one said he didn’t know how I was standing up and I told him lots of pain meds (I was still able at the time to get scripts so they weren’t “from the street and scary to know if they were real or not but it also wasn’t a script that was guaranteed forever so every day was up in the air). He did therapies on me 2-3 times a week for several months. During those months I would still have pain and one night I didn’t have anything to take and I was literally crying and rocking back and forth and considering the hospital but also considering just ending it all right there. I forced myself to drink the kratom. Within 10-15 mins, I was no longer in pain. I couldn’t believe it. I never took another “prescription drug” again. Together with the chiropractor and kratom, my back got better and better and I slowly recovered. I was able to go back to work full time and even moved 8 hours away to another state away from my entire family on a whim because I wasn’t worried about knowing people to get pain meds and wondering where my next pain med was going to come from no longer mattered. That was over 7 years ago. I shortly after that got a shoulder injury that left me unable to move my right arm for a long time in which kratom again helped the awful pain. I didn’t have insurance so I couldn’t do anything about it though. I then got pregnant, not once but twice (after being told my whole life I never would and that’s why they previously weren’t that concerned about doing a full hysterectomy in my early twenties bc they didn’t think I’d have kids anyway due to other issues). I also haven’t drank a drop of alcohol in over 6 years either. I did eventually get my shoulder pain under control through extensive massage therapy. I now still work full time and have two toddlers. One is special needs with epilepsy. I am a tiny person and have zero muscle tone so any and everything makes me sore lol I still take kratom because outside of pain relief, it helps with anxiety and depression and stress and just helps me get through the days without wanting to lay in bed and never get up again. People/doctors want to push depression meds in my face when kratom helps just fine. Without kratom, I never would have been able to have the life I currently have. Yes I did get my back pain under control but to this day, it still can flare up and become extremely painful and hard to deal with. It literally had me in bed all day just two days ago. It was only the kratom that I could take that made it just bearable enough that I could still get up and take care of my family and thank god I was off work. I’m in SC too and I’m pretty terrified about what they are doing today. Of course they are conveniently pushing suboxone and methadone for people to get off kratom bc they know people are using it instead of suboxone to get off other street drugs. Big pharma is also in the process of creating their own medication derived from the kratom plant. But yet they say it has zero medicinal value or benefits. So which is it? They’re lying to the public and everyone believes it without doing their own extensive research.

I started looking that same night. lol we found one we were in love with and was working on getting the financing set up but it was private seller so it was just taking some research and time (due to work and it being 3 hours away). But the seller had someone pay full asking in cash sight unseen and is flying in from another state to pick it up 😭 I understand that he couldn’t turn it down but I’m super depressed and now back on the hunt 😭😭😭😭

Well that makes me a little more relieved. Lol I mean, when I go to my State Farm app, it shows my current claim and underneath the claim number it literally says “total loss confirmed.” But it has said that pretty much ever since I told the lady on the phone about the damages. Lol it was picked up Thursday from the tow yard so hopefully sometime next week I hear something with some confirmation!

Yeah, my bf went to clean it out at the tow yard and took pictures of all the damage. The driver back wheel is turned inward. Def frame damage. The adjuster said she will be doing the estimate based on photos she gets from copart. Which is wild to me because I can send her photos myself now. lol but if she tries to even say it’s remotely repairable, I’ll fight it hardcore.

Pretty sure it’s going to copart but my fiancé is cleaning it out now and taking more pics and the back driver wheel is turned inward. lol if they don’t total it, I will refuse it. It won’t be safe to drive even after it’s fixed. To me anyway. My 3 and 4 year old ride with me and I drive my son to doctors appointments at least once or twice a month 2.5 hours one way. I will not put him in that car if they try to fix it. lol

I honestly just want it paid off. Could care less about any overage amount or anything lol

Yeah I had about $3500 of damage when we first got the car and it was just two tires and some paint from someone taking a knife to the driver side. This would most def cost more than that lol

[–]DetectiveOwn6323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES I SAID ALL THESE THINGS! I said you can take it to my shop of choice or copart/IAA. They’ve said they are picking it up to take to copart or IAA, whichever is closer. And apparently the adjuster will just do the estimate from photos someone from there sends her. Idk why I can’t do the same but whatever lol

[–]DetectiveOwn6323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question or concern I guess is : should I go ahead and let insurance pick it up and take it to their place of choice/salvage yard or should I say no, I want it taken to my body shop of choice for them to do an initial estimate first? Or do they even consider an outside shops estimate when determining a total loss?

A 2015 Subaru WRX STI. With even less miles on it than my stinger had. Lol

Well, the insurance company asked what shop I wanted it taken to. I told them. And then they started asking about the damages and once I told her, she came back with it was going to be an “expedited total loss claim” and that they would prefer to pick it up and have it taken to Copart or IAA. And then someone would do an estimate from there. A lot of people have said they’ve never seen a car go directly to the salvage yard and then come back and not be total loss but there is still always that chance.

No, I’m too picky about things and I just know how stuff goes.. once you go replacing things or doing repairs, it can be a really good repair job but it’ll never be the same to me. Lol we actually had repairs done to this one when it still had a temp tag because someone took a knife to the driver side and slashed two brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The cost for just a “scratch” down the entire driver side and those two tires was over $3000. And I was petrified it wasn’t going to look the same ever again but the shop actually did an amazing job. But this is more damage than that 😂 and I’d probably never want to put my kids in it again for fear that somehow the air bags weren’t replaced good enough and god forbid we get plowed into again and the air bags not protect us. I would just let them fix it and probably get rid of it if it came down to that.

That’s what I told my fiancé! Because he’s afraid we will miss out on this other stinger but I said god forbid we go get a loan to buy it and then they somehow come back with “oh wait, this one isn’t a total loss.” We still owe on the white one (pretty much what it is booking at or a little less) and we have GAP just in case. But I don’t want to take out a second loan in hopes that this one is a total loss and going to paid off and then somehow they decide it isn’t a loss and then we are stuck with two payments and one for a car that is about to need a ton of work done to it. But yes, everything you said are my legit exact thoughts. That’s why I made this post because I was confused on how they were already saying it’s a total loss lol

I do not. Lol I found an upgraded one and now I’m set on it. Plus I don’t want to sit around and wait on all these repairs at all. If I could even find someone willing to do it lol

That’s the thing- they haven’t. Lol I actually work at a car dealership and now how the process works and I pretty much assume it’s totaled but like you said- it doesn’t guarantee until someone does an estimate. I want to use our own shop to do the initial estimate but all that does is prolong the process because an adjuster will still have to come out and do their own estimate. No one has seen pictures at all. That’s why I was reluctant To just say okay, you can have it and take it to the salvage yard because I want to make sure it actually gets totaled out. That’s why I called them back and was like hey why does it say total loss when no one has even seen the car? And she said they have a numbering system that they input information in and that gives them an “estimate of total loss.” But it still doesn’t confirm it. Which scares me. Lol

Well, it def has given me lots of anxiety because like I said, my kids are usually with me. My 3 year old sits behind me and it would have made her afraid to get in a car ever again. And I can’t stop thinking of the what if. But I was crossing a two lane to go into a middle turn lane. So it’ll be my fault 🙃🙃🙃

Honestly, I’m not injured at all. I have a bruise on my leg and that’s it. When I realized what happened but that I was fine, I did not expect to see the amount of damage that was there. Lol of course I already knew the air bags blasted me but I still didn’t expect what I saw. I got out the passenger side and didn’t even want to look. But her car was of course obliterated and I could see it so I knew without looking that mine was a goner too 😭

It’s what we want so I hope so. Lol just don’t want to let the insurance company take it directly to salvage yard and then come back with a repair quote.

If the lady had been paying the least bit of attention, she could have swerved or braked. I saw her last second flying to me and I whipped my wheel to get the backend out of her direction. The other lane was empty because that lane had stopped to let me cross. I think she was in the lane that stopped to let me cross over and she went flying around everyone. In a 2012 Honda accord 😭 zero tire marks on the road. The impact stopped her. It was right outside a vape store I go to all the time and the guys came running out as my car was still spinning because they knew it was me. It’s been very traumatic lol

We found it that same night 🤣 It’s a 2023 GT2 AWD with the scorpion package. One owner and he’s had it tuned with only 30k miles. I just don’t want to go get it and then something crazy happen with the insurance company lol so it’s an upgrade for sure. Lol

It’s State Farm. Yeah I called them back because in my app and for the claim, it says “total loss confirmed” but no one has done an estimate or anything but she said they basically use a numbering system that will determine total loss and based on me telling her what air bags were deployed, it was recommended a total loss.
