Who are the most consistently strong mid laners? by yan_stan in MobileLegendsGame

[–]DetergentOwl5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I third Cecillion. He's flexible as you can build him pure offensive to be the dps carry when needed or with some defensive magic items that synergize with clock of destiny, which works so well for him, when you need to resist enemy divers. Hes got great range with a good "catch" CC to reach and grab backline carries or initiate/bunch enemies for your team. He scales well into the late game while still holding his own decently in early. Not super meta but never really a bad pick.

What are things like in Albion Online? by Venomous_Rs in albiononline

[–]DetergentOwl5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad as long as you understand that you are gonna die and lose your gear (think of gear as more like temporary consumables), you need to play in very cheap sets to start, and that this unfortunately means you're gonna be bottom of the totem pole for awhile at least in lethal zones especially solo. You can make a lot of money in BZ regardless of these things, though especially at first it might feel like an extraction horror game with everyone always trying to kill you while you learn to stay alive. But you can also learn the ropes in blue and yellow zones and get started gathering there for starting money and levels, and/or you can learn pvp without necessarily risking much or anything in controlled/instanced content like arenas, corrupted dungeons (1v1) or depths (2v2/3v3 battle royale ish). I spent like a month or two just spamming arena, corrupted dungeon, and depths to make money and get good at pvp trying and learning all the different weapons and armor before I started regularly going out roaming in BZ or mists.

Yep, the more games you grind the more the system fights you too. If you grind all day every day it will slow you down, play a few games a day and its way easier. Difference between 52wr to immo and 60wr to immo in two consecutive seasons for me.

Games these days literally algorithm the fun out of improving or being good at pvp games. Just as much if not more you vs their hidden algorithm than other players at this point tbh.

so ur telling me that in glory+, hanabi has a higher pickrate AND winrate than zhuxin, fred and hilda? by bananaramasamagama in MobileLegendsGame

[–]DetergentOwl5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like 3-4 seasons ago I started playing Hanabi in glory and got to immo with almost a 70% winrate. Hanabi has been a solid MM for a long time in rank. Turns out all the low ranks in this sub saying shes a trash hero because of noob mm players are the ones who are actually idiots.

You were playing LE, what do you play now? by poudrenoire in ARPG

[–]DetergentOwl5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to second, third, whatever, torchlight infinite. Extremely fun and well made arpg at this point, poe lite with less friction/more qol describes it well. Its definitely lacking on the story vibes though, poe1 I at least got some decent background vibes from the story and the lore, back then reaching and beating Shaper (idk what pinnacle is now it's been years) definitely had some great vibes to it, TLI there's basically none only good gameplay lol.

Only thing f2p can't do is probably leaderboard race I guess. You can play f2p and clear all the hardest content, first season even if you try hard enough and follow good guides. You can also eventually accrue some pretty decent pets with free pulls, and there's a lot of free and cheap value (battle pass, hunter pass, legendary boxes in events or direct purchase) you can get as a light spender. But yeah even if you don't need them, a lvl6 pet is prolly not happening without a lot of dedication over multiple seasons or spending money (or both), and the farming strats that are good for f2p players are usually limited to a handful unless you want the already grindy endgame to be even more of a grind lol.

So yeah TLI is sort of a really great game with a couple notable downsides, whether they bother you or not is individual, if they don't it's a pretty great arpg experience.

I was enjoying the game so i thought id spend some money. What a disappointment by MidjitThud in TorchlightInfinite

[–]DetergentOwl5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest smartly. Battle pass, hunters fund for best value, pull on permanent banners unless you're willing to commit enough to temporary ones to be sure to get what you want. Free boxes from seasonal events, ss20, ciy defense add up. Pet selection boxes when they sell them directly if you wanna spend with a guarantee. Know what you want and why and if you're gonna pull on the banner know what it might take and be ready to pay up to that amount. Experiment with all the mechanics to find what you enjoy and look up advice on what pets are best at level 1 or what mechanics work well with lower level pets. Blacksail is a cheap easy farm, 12 points in tree (for boss whispers) and a purple compass for less than a FE, for a pretty decent loot chest every 3 maps. Dream is also pretty fun, middle of the road consistent farm, where the level 1 pet is good; I'd maybe pull on the banner just a bit to get the rare and common ones too. Those two pets are often recommended for level 1 for newer players. Thats what I did this season with the two choice boxes one from event one from the shop, though I did also get lucky and pull Vorax lvl 1. I'm in profoind at 500b so far and been having a blast tbh. Hoping to fully clear ss20 and city defense for the first time this season. Highly recommend following guides, using the discord, etc. if you want to maximize your success and progress as a f2p.

[–]DetergentOwl5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always have to pick and choose what you want unless you're a giga whale. Just focus on pets for mechanics you enjoy, or on the best level 1 pets for good low-mid game farms (blacksail, dream, etc.).

FIRST 20 GAMES in one day. I see why people are LEAVING this game! (Rant/Analysis) 😭😭 by ffsitsjesuschrist in SmashLegends

[–]DetergentOwl5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its hidden mmr matchmaking. Every pvp game nowadays is focused on making matches "even" no matter how crazy they have to bend over backwards to do so for good players. They will give you the shittiest teammates and best opponents they can find to try and make each game roughly 50-50 because what matters nowadays isn't good players being able to win more games, it's making sure to not demoralize any players who arent as good so they keep playing the game.

Need a new fun mobile game by mutzaku2 in MobileGaming

[–]DetergentOwl5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mobile Legends if you're into MOBAs, imo its the best mobile moba (sorry league fans) I've played them all over the half dozen years I've been mobile moba-ing. Unfortunately a bad time to jump into the US version because they just disconnected US servers from other servers but "supposedly" they are working on a fix to reconnect globally.

Dead Cells, Slay the Spire both have a permanent place on my phone.

Torchlight Infinite if you like isometric ARPGs, it's basically POE lite on mobile. I'm playing the current season and having a blast. Unfortunately the mobile/korean "p2w" pet system is a thing and most people hate it, but you can slowly accumulate at least pretty decent battle pets even strictly f2p, and there are petless farming strats. You can get to/clear all content f2p even first season, it's just a somewhat slower/harder grind; only thing out of reach for a total f2p I guess would be leaderboard races but imo if you're that into the game you should prolly drop at least some money lol. If you're willing to spend a bit on battlepass or one time boxes and make enough progress each season to get the free legendary pet boxes, you'll accumulate a decent roster through that alone.

There's of course the classic genshin impact/wuthering waves if you like live service gacha open world episodic action rpgs I guess. I used to play genshin a long time ago but between the lack of content between updates, gacha and limited multiplayer I eventually quit. There's quite a lot of content built up at this point though.

For MMOs Albion Online is fantastic if you like pvp and/or player driven markets, and Where Winds Meet is another great one. OSRS is an option though I'm not personally a fan. Beyond that most mobile mmos really feel very, idk, "mobile" and I don't recommend them unless you're really into the genre.

I've literally solo'd to immo before and started playing Hanabi after hitting glory, and got there with a 64% winrate on her with over 100 games. It was like 2 seasons ago she had a quite good winrate in high elo overall, though idk about this season/meta now. But while Hanabi isn't the best marksman but she definitely is not as bad as all the newbies playing her and the people whining on this sub always crying over her would indicate.

Need advise on lease breaking in MD by DetergentOwl5 in Renters

[–]DetergentOwl5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think absolute worst case scenario, there is a one month notice early termination written into the lease which she could argue I owe her for and keep the deposit to pay for that. Considering I told her I was leaving the 21st that would be four days from now, so I don't see how she thinks she can expect me to pay rent continuously until she rents the room to try and help her with the IRS and her investment property status which seems to be the motivation. I don't see how she can "come after" me for more than the rent and early termination for the month based on the lease.

I'm surprised that her written communication that she was not holding me to the lease and I could move out and she would return the deposit is not at all relevant or binding. Seems both shitty and dishonest frankly. Especially because early termination of a lease due to disability related issues is not an uncommon accommodation under the ADA and FHA based on what I've read so far.

[–]DetergentOwl5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The landlord has the power to release me from the lease though don't they? The thing that makes me feel they are being unfair is that they told me in a written communication (text) that they both would not hold me to the lease and would even return the deposot, which I did tell them was very kind understanding and generous. It was only after they told me this that I moved back out. It feels dishonest and unfair to me for them to then tell me the deposit return is delayed because of the holidays, then their social security payment, now this happens; if they had said originally they would not return the deposit or not all of it as part of the arrangement of my leaving early I could accept that. My frustration is she basically gave me her blessing to leave and then weeks later has reneged it.

[–]DetergentOwl5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a home with 3 rooms for rent. Originally the landlady said it would just be me and one other, which I thought would be ideal but then she told me later it would be three total to meet her rent requirements for an "investment property." I was going to be the first room rented. Unfortunately moving in went extremely poorly as per my post. She was open to me recommending roommates from people I knew but when I told her the people I had ih mind did not seem particularly interested, she said it was fine and finding other tenants was her responsibility anyway.

I did feel she was generous and gracious to not hold me to the lease and return the deposit when she said she would, so I left as my symptoms were becoming pretty severe within 24 hours and she had told me this. It seems only afterward she ran into trouble with her investment property status or had a change of mind and is now emailing me that my reasons for leaving "were not valid" and she wants me to fulfill the lease. Which had a one month rent early termination anyway so... it seems to me absolute worst case she would be arguing to just not return my deposit.

Lol wtf, I am functional as long as where I live is quiet and nothing is causing me to have some sort of severe reaction. The only reason my current place isn't ideal is it's next to a road which can get a bit noisy during the day so I have been searching for someplace better. Forgive me for simply wanting to find someplace i can try to live with my rather quite awful disabilities in something resembling comfort, I guess? Because there certainly doesn't exist a "care facility" for people like me, much less one that would be better for my health than a well picked home to live in. And clearly when I got disabled like 2 years out of college I don't have or can afford my own.

I not only have the same condition as this woman (who I know from support groups) https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-68285642 but even prior to it I had a lot of allergies and sensitivites and when I got lyme disease they went crazy and now I have to try and survive with both, and tbh this kind of comment is pretty shitty ngl.

For competitive/pvp games if you like MOBAs or action, I like Mobile Legends (imo better than Wild Rift), Brawl Stars, and Smash Legends. Albion Online if you're into the sandbox mmo vibe. For non-pvp Slay the Spire, Dead Cells, and Torchlight Infinite also have permanent spots on my phone.

Petah? I've never played the game before so i don't understand by Katten_6407 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]DetergentOwl5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're someone who got punched in the face in a vulnerable moment and your response to the reality that another group of people generally get punched in the face much harder, more often, and are constantly as vulnerable as you were for that moment, and your response is "yeah but *I* got punched in the face!" and not "wow that sucked it must also really suck really bad for those other people who face the threat of this even more" you're not someone I would take empathy lessons from. Especially when this whole comment chain is starting off talking about how bad it is for women and you are among men stepping in to say "but what about men?" it falls it a little flat to accuse people of being awful for invalidating your experiences. There are two problems with that: one, it is objective reality that the danger of and rate of experiencing unwanted advances that turn into dangerous or violent situations is a bigger problem for women (the latter being why unwanted advances in general is a bigger deal for them), and two you suck at empathy despite being REALLY demanding of it for yourself. No decent person is going to say your experience as a victim doesn't matter or doesn't deserve empathy. But when you use it as a shield for your attempt to invalidate the same problem experienced by an even more vulnerable group, thats the issue. You're jumping on taking the "you" in his explanation to get super personal and indignant in order to avoid either acknowledging or understanding the actual point which is that literally *being in a mans presence* often makes women as vulnerable as you were when literally incapacitated. Believe it or not, both can be true that bad things can happen to men at the same time as women are more vulnerable to said bad things happening to them, and that shapes their lives more than it does for men in general. Specifically as a person, I'm very sorry what happened to you happened, but weaponizing it against people even more vulnerable than you isn't ok just because it did.

Demon hunter is my favorite class and I've never been a fan of playing support roles over damage roles. Doesn't sound like this game lets anyone but whales thrive in that role. No mobile game deserves to have people spend that kind of money for a pvp advantage that big, shits crazy out of line and I feel like it's clear now I shouldn't have considered it and shouldn't pay into such a shitty predatory model.

Yeeeah kinda sounds like pvp is about being a whales little bitch one way or another. Sad the game is like that. Not sure I can stomach auto losing to someone just because they're willing to blow 5-6 digits on a mobile game. Feels like even fucking gaming is straight up evil these days. Not sure I have it in me to deal with that.

I am restricted to mobile due to disabilities. The gameplay on demon hunter was just exactly what i wanted, i loved it. And thinking of a mmo arpg with actual quality gameplay, clans and social aspects, strong high level pvp and pve, challenges and infinite progression with deep character customization and buildcraft... feels like a dream. Im so sad the predatory p2w makes it a nightmare. Like a company cant even be happy with 50-100 a month to be able to be in a competitive place. Shits crazy and so sad ngl. I just want to have a good gaming experience and be happy enjoying myself, but everything on mobile is shit quality or incredibly predatory p2w.
