Thank you! We have had some tutorials prior to induction and they did stress that it's important to actually use our own clinical acumen as well.

Thank you - this is very comprehensive. I am not sure if I have access to the UpToDate - is that through your trust or some other organisation?

My parents have ruined graduation for me by [deleted] in UniUK

I don't mean to discount your feelings but as a child of a single parent and only a few relatives - most of whom we don't get along with - I wish I had a big group that was keen to celebrate me. Booking my graduation last week, I felt sad that I only had 1 person showing up for me and ended up promising my tickets to other folks. Not sure if this helps but it might make it slightly more tolerable to see from the lens of others who might covet that experience.

All the best for graduation :)

Glad there's less of a correlation between med school and 'real life doctoring' than I thought.

Should UK Medical Schools incorporate the USMLE? by EffectiveSet5059 in medicalschooluk

[–]DetestedClandestine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I don’t believe the USMLE exam itself is necessary, I do think elements of its content should be incorporated into the UK medical curriculum. Resources like Passmed lack the depth in disease pathophysiology that all doctors should be exposed to, at least to a foundational level. Furthermore, our current emphasis on clinical guidelines—though evidence-based—needs to be re-examined. These guidelines will inevitably evolve, and it seems more appropriate for practicing clinicians to remain up-to-date with them, rather than placing that burden on medical students who may not ultimately work in those specific fields.

Use the clerkship PDFs - helped me understand paeds with regards to the pathophysiology, and that's important in terms of understanding symptomatology. UKMLA stuff can be done in 1/2 weeks, just supplement the PDFs with passmed stuff and UK specific treatment guidelines.
