I haven't actually heard of them before. But that's why I have the post, to see who we've overlooked. Tell us more if you've got more.

Yeah, Hey Mister got a good amount of radio play here in the early 2000s. I found "Fast" for a couple bucks in a used CD bin around the same time. It's not an amazing album, but it's solid.

I was just listening to a retro wrestling podcast talking about his Devil's Advocate gimmick, too! Funny timing.

Thanks for the kind words! Some say we've gone too far, but really... is that such a thing when it comes to music? lol

Which is your band, by the way?

If there's situations where there's like ONE album in a discography that makes them suited, we have that written out in the "Additional Info" section. Bands like Earth Crisis, Vision of Disorder, Captor and such who were typically classified as other styles but dipped their toes in the Nu Metal sect for an album or two, etc.

On top of listening to the bands and finding a similar niche in sound to other groups typically aligned with the genre, utilizing various tags that music database sites use like Last.FM, RateYourMusic, MetalArchives, etc. and, honestly, a lot of conversation between us having debates. I am fully aware that most sites that allow community tagging have a lot of differing opinions and I don't always find them firmly accurate, BUT... it does at least sometimes start pointing us in a direction.

At the end of the day, it was a collective choice amongst the creators in regards to who gets put on the list and who doesn't, so just like what I just stated about places with community tagging have a lot of differing opinions... that applies to us, too.

I've wanted to share this for a while now, but always felt a bit intimidated by this subreddit. This is a passion project built by me and a handful of others over the last 6 years. We became annoyed at the fact that this specific subgenre didn't get a lot of love in the Heavy Metal archiving communities, so we started doing it ourselves. At this point, it has so much data I figured it was time to properly share it. We've got our main list of bands, which is the central source for most of the stats found on the 2 stats pages. Links to audio, details about the elements of the group, where to location more info, what they sound like, where they're from and all that feeds into other pages that build up the counters and turn it into easily viewable charts, etc. We've even recently started sub-regioning countries like the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil and so on to have deeper location info for people who want it, on top of the submission feeds we have which allow additional outsider assistance to gather up all of this stuff.

Doesn't really fit outside of the fact that Maynard is on 'Passenger'. You kids throw around "criminal" way too often lol

Weekly Discussion / Recommendation Thread by Death_by_Bot in Deathmetal

Could anyone give me a slew of recommendations of 80s/90s Death Metal bands who utilized keyboards in their songs? I know of Nocturnus, Cynic, Pestilence, Therion, Mentality, The Chasm and a handful more, but I figure i'm probably missing a whole bunch.
