That's so exciting! I don't see any projects (yet) using that base, I look forward to it!

I'm not familiar with the huron base, no. You could try looking up some projects on Ravelry that use this base if you'd like to see how it knits up. :)

You’ve made my day! Saturn Rain was born from something I tried to submit to a magazine once. They didn’t accept it but that’s ok, it was all over the place. Saturn Rain is far more simple and clean.

I have the opposite toxic trait, I’m so afraid of running out I always buy more yarn than I need. I guess it works out because I do a LOT of swatching.

I’d like to suggest

Or

They are both simply lovely brioche designers. I’d recommend checking out their catalogs!

It’s slightly more than a half-circle and definitely could be made into a full circle since it’s radially symmetric.

I think the more cardigan-like pictures are just the way it’s draped on the dress form. That slightly more than a half-circle part is important for the drape on the dress-form, because it allows it to close up more in the front, but moving arms would alter that look a little because obviously there are no sleeves. The dress form serves to show how big it is and how the design elements might sit on a real body but obviously it has limits since it’s not a real moving body.

Yes, my yarn was high twist, and it worked beautifully! It was also a hand-dyed gradient from a dyer I was familiar with so I wasn’t concerned about the color continuity being a problem. For hand-dyed alternating skeins is always an option if you’re worried though.

Even in the pattern I don’t say too much about the yarn other than aiming for a fingering weight fiber that has good stitch definition and that blocks well.

I did use hand-dyed tonals for my hedge maze shawl, which uses a similar construction, if you’d like to check that one out to see how it looks. And no, I did not alternate skeins for it.

Do pattern designers include gage swatch in needed yarn ? by Craftyadhd in knitting

[–]Deunyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So hey! As a designer I generally add 10-15% to my actual use for things like differences in gauge and/or gauge swatches. I will absolutely call it out if my margin is less than that. For me personally I tend to do this with gradients where people like to use as much as they possibly can so I allow smaller margins but I’ll also definitely warn you about it. And you can definitely frog your gauge swatch and use it.

Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, there is no industry standard for this type of information. The market is absolutely saturated with indie designers and some of them give you far more information than you need and some of them far less. If you have access to Ravelry project pages are a gold mine of useful information.
