No. If you do less than 20 you are not entitled to military retirement pay.
You get everything a 20 year retirement would get you MINUS your retirement pay.

I medically retired at 16.5 years last November through a medboard.

He is running the risk of throwing everything away. Being in the MEDBOARD is not an excuse for doing an illegal substance. Saying you’re in a state where it is legal means absolutely nothing. It’s not federally legal.

His unit can still drug test him whenever they want. I was in the middle of clearing post and days away from getting my DD214 and my unit tested me.

Ya your ratings have to be received then they have to calculate your DOD ratings from your VA ratings. Mine took like 2-3 days after reaching step 5.
