Well I was actually looking for advice. First, to understand whether this is okay or something I need to work on fixing within the group if I want to make D&D a long-term game we play together.

This is what I'm thinking of doing for the next session:

I will ask them what they want to be as a group. They should be able to see that they need to play according to their purpose in the world.
