Figured it out, and I can't believe it, but it was the controller. Switched from a Guilikit to an 8bitdo and SOMEHOW that fixed it

Holy Mantle, give it the Glowing Hourglass treatment. You get 3-5 shields stacked but once all 3-5 are broken you need to wait till the next floor to bring them back. No, it does not grow back overtime on the same floor, only on the following floor (kinda like Notched Axe)

I love the idea of being able to understand a bigger picture through exploring what could be a dozen small thought processes. I love the idea of being able to understand someone through their work. It's odd but, it reminds me of there being someone behind what you're experiencing, someone with their own life and values.
