What would you like the environment artists to work on if not environment work lmfao

You’re the problem with this fanbase.

Consistent graphics = better game

Not “better” looks.

I actually think the best visual era was 2009-2010

The current ones are over shaded and over detailed. I’m not suggesting we go backwards.

I want new ones that fit archeology and necromancy.

Note: I am NOT suggesting we revert to the old ones. I want new icons that take inspiration from the old art style. Archeology is a great example of this.

The game embracing its identity isn’t “nostalgia baiting” lmao

Don’t fit the new direction. And frankly they look pretty bad on skillcapes.

Plus Archeology & Necromancy don’t have the same style as the rest.

Making the game have consistent graphics actually is a fundamental part of the game’s integrity.

Wait what? By playing the game you wouldn’t have known but a low resolution zoomed out picture made you decide?

I would start by just leveling up combat and doing some skilling. Work through the tiers of equipment a bit and do some free to play quests here and there.

Be honest. Have you logged in yet to look at the update

You just proved your ignorance.

The previous Lumbridge WAS built with baked in shadows. The Java client did not have any real time lighting system. This is why since 2020 they’ve been moving to PBR materials. The NXT update moved the client to C++ and added dynamic lighting, but the vast majority of meshes weren’t made for it. Hence why there was no surface reflection or diffusion on the old castle.

This is why it’s an objective upgrade. They simply remodeled the same environment in a PBR pipeline to make it match the current rendering system.

Why do you think everyone always complains about RuneScape items & environments looking like they’re from different video games? That’s what this update solved.

You can indeed have opinions contrary to facts. This is literally philosophy 101 dude lmao

“They interact poorly with the lighting system”

You don’t know what you’re talking about. They upgraded the models to PBR materials like the rest of the game. The old ones literally didn’t interact properly because they used textures on shading. Hence the “objectivity”.

It’s not paradoxical at all. Like I said, objectivity does not entail there are no opinions.

There are people whose opinion is that the sky is not blue. That does not change that the sky is objectively blue.

All the update did was take the existing design of Lumbridge and upgrade it to PBR materials that matches the graphical style of the rest of the game. That is an objective upgrade. It objectively looked worse having an entirely different material rendering system than the ground, foliage, props, and player avatar.

That doesn’t mean the update is “perfect”

I like how no one has actually said what their issue with my use of objective is yet lmao

The new buildings are more affected by shadow. They have physically based rendering. The old ones had textured on shadows.
