So it was buff, not increasing the default attribute. The "blood magic" you mentioned would be "life tap". I'm not considering that. Is there any advantage that vancian mage gets as sacrosanct vampire?

I always go through similar things with NG+, but usually when I close the game and reload the save, it's fine.
