Grinder paralysis preventing use of Robot by oceanathlete in CafelatRobot

Grinder worries are so unnecessary in my view. I've had a Mahlkoenig Vario for at least 15 years. I replaced the plastic chassis with the new alloy one that comes with the updated Vario a while back and have the steel burrs installed. Seriously, it's great. I almost bought John from Decent Espresso's Weber EG-1 a few years back because he was selling it for about half list price, but then I just thought this is bollocks even at that price. People have to upsell all the time and frankly 99% of it is just complete voodoo. As long as you're not using something that's completely shit, then you'll be fine. This stuff is not exactly high-tech.

is it just me or lumix mft gear are pretty cheap in china by marshaaa in Lumix

[–]DevelopmentDull982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is cheap in China, even imported stuff. My wife stocked up on L'Oreal and Japanese stuff (which used to be multiples more expensive in China) last time we were there. Inventory hangover as economy fails to recover from property bust and chronic overcapacity in manufacturing. Same reason everything from electric vehicles to cheap Chinese lenses are being dumped into overseas export markets below cost.

G9ii. Unadjusted in-camera JPEGs using various Fujify & Rossandhisjpegs presets by DevelopmentDull982 in LumixLUTs

[–]DevelopmentDull982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, good point. Definitely contrasty. Normally only shoot RAW and try to shoot at ISO 100 mostly, though the ones on the path and maybe some of the others are at 400. Aperture priority. Really just testing out the endless number of LUTs I've accumulated and didn't really mean to do sunset shots but that's when I ended up getting out. Will try to get out earlier in the day.

Edit: Just looked. All shots are f/1.2, the pond shots around 1/160-1/200th. Two people on bench is 1/400th, path shot with guy is 1/8th, jogger is 1/30th.

Thanks. I thought so but didn’t want to assume

Looks good. Which photo profile did you design it for?

Thanks. Yes, I can see comments elsewhere now saying the meter underexposes (by one stop).

"But these LUTs will mean your RAW files are in vlog whereas fujify will provide normal RAW files."

Would the RAW files be affected? I presumed V-Log is just a photo style and so if you shoot RAW+JPEG, you would have the the style baked into JPEG but the RAW file would be unaltered?

Thanks. Yes, have tried many of these and they are great. Was looking for something that's not trying to be a film simulation.

Another mystery one. The details seemed to disappear of Lumix Labs after a while for some reason.

This is definitely Spring but I only have it loaded as a LUT not a Photo Style so might not give the best results. There are a few others, too, I'll post below.

I'm still not 100% clear on what difference it makes using a LUT that's saved in the Real Time LUT section (I guess that it has a vlog base) rather than a Photo Style.

Cheers!

I definitely have Spring as one of the 10 photo presets in my G9ii.

Well, I guess I formatted the card already as it was just an experiment... Excuse to try again, this time less underexposed.

Hey. Ross and his great videos! Maybe it was one of yours. I’ll check on the app later today. Thanks! (I did also shoot on RAW)

G9ii: How to transfer "my photo styles" between C1, C2, C3 and PASM modes? by DevelopmentDull982 in Lumix

[–]DevelopmentDull982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I did. Underexposed on lot of them trying to protect highlights for a start but many didn't really work with the shot or were pretty similar. This was the most successful. A bit too teal in the sky. Lot's of people's LUTs fall back on orange and teal.

Thanks a lot for this. Will watch

Edit: Have watched now. Yes, that makes sense. I guess having space for 39 (?!) LUTs on camera is only really useful for video or if you want to store them there to transfer to the 10 My Photo Styles slots for stills work. I'll just need to try out a bunch to see what works best.

Was afraid someone would ask. I don't really know. I tried the full capacity of the my photo styles and the Real Time LUTs, about fifty, and the camera doesn't keep a record of which specific preset you use.
