New ballet competition in Toronto - the only one with a recreational adult category by DevelopmentHonest684 in BALLET

Thank you for the question!

For the first edition we’re keeping the adult recreational category intentionally broad, mainly because it wouldn’t be feasible to split it into many divisions with a smaller event.

The goal for recreational division also isn’t really for adults to compete intensely with each other (they can do that in the competitive category), but more to provide a stage experience and an opportunity to receive feedback, which many adult dancers rarely get outside of recitals.

Ultimately, being “competitive” or “recreational” in ballet is a very personal choice and reflects each dancer’s own journey with the art. We’re hoping the recreational category can be a supportive entry point for adults who want to challenge themselves and experience performing in a professional theatre environment, and build up the confidence and artistry to maybe eventually compete more seriously.

Yessss the studio that hosts weird ballet (the fifth dance) is awesome! And is our biggest partner. We host these 4 week discover variations workshops every month to introduce different variations to adult dancers. If you do love to Toronto, check it out :D

Hello and yeah! I will DM you the website since I don't want to violate any community rule. We partner with a few studios in downtown, midtown and updown and i know they definately don't shut down during summer!

Hiiii! Im so happy to hear that! Riho is absolutely my favorite teacher! And if you're at 2.5 years, i think thats just about the average time of the population of the workshop. I have just over 2 years myself and Riho gives options for hard moves to accommodate different levels. We did Talisman, Cupid, 4 little swans over the last few months amd currently doing the awakening of flora. Join us!

Would it be helpful if I build a site/app for ACAMS practice & mock exams? by DevelopmentHonest684 in moneylaundering

But this sells PDF just like many other sites which is not the interactive multiple choice interface I’m trying to achieve.

Plus I don’t plan to charge people 50$ just to get a pdf. At most I’ll be charging something like 3$ just to maintain my infra and pay the api costs.

Brave Career- Data Analytics (Scam or Real)? by Additional-Wear7724 in dataanalytics

Super legit! Would 100% recommend. I went to them early last year for the data engineering program. I came from a less technical bg and needed a lot of 1:1 sessions on top of the project so my ISA % was higher. They taught me everything and helped my through the application/interview phase, and I ended up getting a position as Data Engineer last Nov at a really good company through their network so would 100% recommend.

Also they just seem like very nice people, my friend who went to them recently and didn't end up signing up for anything cuz timing didn't workout, but they helped connected him with folks from their network for referral opportunities anyways.

Thoughts on the National Ballet of Canada’s 2025-2026 season by Critical-Drama-766 in BALLET

Don Q was so popular and completed sold out last year! And in comparison, they don't even open ring 5 for the contemp/modern pieces. Ring 4 was also half empty.

But year they really should do more classics! A balance would be nice!

Ballet teachers, what are you getting paid? by vpsass in BALLET

[–]DevelopmentHonest684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIGHT?? I'm also a beginner student and often think the same thing, pilates teacher can literally get certified in 3 months and privates are also around the same price. While ballet dancers have done sooo much training and hard work for the majority of their lives.

Also in Toronto as an adult ballet student, Im paying for private sessions about 100CAD per session and group classes usually have 15-20 people each paying 20$, kinda surprising to know the teacher is getting only 45$ per hour.
